Announce Winner of Washington’s Best Film Competition
George Washington University Student Film “Released to Life” Named Best Film by D.C.

Washington D.C. – January 30, 2012 – SnagFilms and the D.C. Office of Motion
Picture and Television Development announced the winner of Washington’s Best
Film competition today at an event at George Washington University. Student
film “Released for Life,” produced by students attending The Documentary Center
at George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs was named
Best Film by D.C. Mayor Vincent C. Gray and SnagFilms founder and chairman Ted
Leonsis. Steve Knapp, President of George Washington University, was also present
for the award ceremony and screening of the film.

That’s where SnagFilms comes in. The start-up has distribution rights to more than 3,000 indie movies, which it shoots out to platforms like Netflix and Hulu. The four-year-old company is best known for the documentaries it puts out, like “Casino Jack,” the story of the disgraced political fundraiser Jack Abramoff; others include “Super Size Me” and “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room.” Now SnagFilms has raised another $7 million, following up a $10 million round from a year ago. Earlier investors like Ted Leonsis, New Enterprise Associates and Comcast have re-upped; new investors include Terry Semel, the former Warner Bros. studio and Yahoo boss.

All Current Investors Participate; New Investors Terry Semel and David Fialkow Added
Washington, DC – January 30, 2012 – SnagFilms announced today that it has
closed a new, seven-figure financing round to accelerate the growth the company
achieved in 2011. All current investors participated, including SnagFilms founder
and chairman Ted Leonsis, Steve and Jean Case’s Revolution, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and
Comcast Ventures, along with two new investors: veteran media and
internet executive Terry Semel (who also joins the Company’s Board) and David
Fialkow, co-founder and managing director of General Catalyst Partners. In addition
to new equity, the company has arranged its first debt facility with Silicon Valley
Bank. Total available equity and debt financing is $7MM.
