"The Free Gift Jack Donaghy Should Have Given Liz Lemon Last Night"

Jack describes Liz Lemon as a "New York third-wave feminist, college-educated, single-and-pretending-to-be-happy-about-it, overscheduled, undersexed, you buy any magazine that says 'healthy body image' on the cover and every two years you take up knitting for...a week." So he decided to send her a holiday present based on trying to teach her about his unhappy and impoverished childhood and how to bring oneself up by his bootstraps in New York City.

In the years after working for Senator Kennedy, Jack, in his own words "thrived" on fear, bow hunting polar bears, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. He once drove a rental car into the Hudson River to practice escaping. Having made at the age of 10 a list of things he wanted to do before he was 50, he subsequently tells Liz how much his goals have changed. Wanting to go to Disneyworld was surpassed by him holding Walt Disney's dead frozen hand, and wanting to fly in an airplane was surpassed by him flying in Air Force One for fun. Jack comes from a very eccentric, Irish-American family characterized by a great deal of drama and infighting and he insists on Liz understanding this side of his life.
