Gets, remarkably, to the heart of the adolescent female experience, in all its want--aching, excited, or quiet, or am intricate combination of all. The young women are from different parts of Chicago geographically and socially, from different races and classes and histories, but all so knowing in their own ways. This filmmaker clearly gained good trust from the subjects, who are natural and honest throughout the film. I intended to watch only a few minutes of this to catch a sense of what it was about, but watched it through to the end. Stay with it past the opening few minutes and the film editing/art design that belie the expertise of the film on the whole; the stories are what matter here, and those stories are engaging and true to life and at times full of the small daily heartbreaks of this age.
