This movie is a good effort, but it’s incomplete. No treatment of African American cinema is complete without the recognition of Paul Robeson.

Great retrospective. You really did a nice job covering all of the periods in black cinema. It’s amazing how far it’s come since the days when white people played the roles of black actors. It seems like a lot of black cinema was pioneered by black comedians a la Bill Cosby, Eddie Murphy, and more. R&B;Guru of R&B;Haven and Soul Of R&B; Posted 07/07/09 by Chuck Deluxe
Very nice post, and its good to see black cinema being recognized. They interviewed some of the greatest, and the footage from Spike Lee was great. I fortunately had the opportunity to meet Spike Lee a few years back, and speak with him about black cinema.

Glad to see this film. I obviously forgot about a number of the films in the 70s, & was conpletely surprised about the movies in the 60s & before. The 80s & 90s really does give me something to smile about. Posted 04/04/09 by spikol
