It is SO sad that this beautiful land is getting destroyed by us. I will probably not have the chance to see this beauty in person and even sadder that it may not be around to see in person by my children.

This film looks great, but I couldn’t get any sound.  I checked my computer sound controls and the sound control on the film, both with no luck.  I really want to see this film with the sound........is there a solution for this?

This is one amazing video.  I would to know how the eco-system has been doing since the reporting of gold miners using mecury that is contaminating the river.  They have been using it for the last 20 years approximately since this video reported it in 1990, and no telling how long prior to that time. it’s alarming how much mecury has been detected in fish since that time, and thus criminal how it has made its way into the people of the Amazon.

THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING VIDEOS I HAVE WATCHED. THE PEOPLE ARE ONE WITH THE RIVER. EXCEPT THE GOVERNMENTS AND BIG BUSINESS. THEY ARE THE ONES THAT CREATE THAT MOST PROBLEMS FOR THE RIVER PEOPLE, WHO JUST WANT TO LIVE.

In Central America, the Maya Nut is making it clear that trees are worth more standing than cut down. Trees are critical to the well being of forest inhabitants in Central America. Ironically though, many forest dependent communities find it pays more to cut trees down than to keep them standing. A Maya nut is currently both the Mayan calendar conspiracy theorists and not, simultaneously.  (Making them both ridiculous and, by being two things at once, Schrodinger’s Cat.) The Maya Nut, otherwise known as brosimum alicastrum, is an amazing plant, a prolific food source, and keystone of rainforest environments of Central America. Studies have shown that once it disappears, other species will follow it.  Erika Vohman, founder of The Equilibrium Fund, having discovered the properties of this wonder plant, is doing all she can to protect it, as it provides food without needing short term loans to cultivate large supplies.  Protecting the Maya Nut would go a long way for the credit repair of food producing species in the environment.
