utterly fascinating, I was spellbound for almost hour and half (and I am not a calm and patient person).

Whoever was the inspiration of this wonderful film must live long.
I met this music giant Aram as a kid in Venice visiting the Mekhitarist monastery, after his triumphant Spartacus, during the years of Khruchef in ‘63, I also cherish a photo with him. As this presentaion claims, he was inspired by his forefather’s soul and he stayed on that timeless path, for this he will live… Posted 06/18/09 by Merry Punster
This is a wonderful film about a great composer and a great man. It also features his friends Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Myaskovsky, Rostropovich and David Oistrakh, among others. There are examples of his great compositions, ballets and other music, and how he came to write them. It is also an evocative description of the Soviet Union, the times of the revolutions and the mentality that was so destructive to creativity, and destroyed many people. The film also shows his beloved Armenia, with its beautiful music and his family that were such an inspiration to him. This is a must see film for lovers of music, history and humanity. |
