I like the film but the way that the commercial spots are edited in are incredibly distracting! Why not cut them in at the end of a scene instead of right in the middle? pre-roll ads would be better tolerated I think. Too many ads in general...ruins the film.

i live 2 blocks from the chinese and see these people all the time. great doc
Posted 09/16/09 by Lewis
Like i had read on your Q&A;, i also liked the fact that you just showed how these people work and live instead of exploting them like other people would or making fun of them. These people have alot of passion for what they do.

Hey guys, i really liked your film. It was very informative and entertaining at the same time. Keep up the good work.

Hi everyone. My father hated radio and could not wait for television to be invented so he could hate that too.

The guy who plays the hulk in this film was on an episode of “My Life On The D-List” on bravo. Kathy Griffin and a rapper called T.I. walked down hollywood boulevard and the hulk guy took off his mask and called out to T.I. and Kathy.

i think its funny that mostly all of these people act as comic characters yet dont read comic books.

Hi all. For one human being to love another; that is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but preparation.

Hollywood—where the dreams you didn’t know you had can come true…
Posted 08/11/09 by Ian
I have to admit that these people are so brave,no matter what they’re doing now as a transition to that and to make ends meet.My heart goes out to them, the Batman and Wonder woman “actors” especially for trying and wanting to live their dreams and for the Superman “actor”..well,what better person to want to emulate and have a fixation on than someone as great at the Man of Steel.

I live our here in this crazy town called Hollywood and I too am trying to be an actress. I stumbled upon this film and could not “put it down”. I was truly entranced by it. It’s honesty, rawness and humanity kept me totally plugged in. It made me want to cry and scream all at the same time all while wanting to give the Hulk a great big hug. Great job.

Excellent content and editing. Excellent subjects. Excellent Picture.
Director Matthew Ogens was fairly lucky to have found this cast of ‘characters.’ An angry, chain-smoking, pathologically lying, imaginary ex-’gangster’ Batman. A Superman-obsessed, nerdy, mirror-image of Clark Kent. A wholesome, needy, and lonesome southern belle of a Wonderwoman. And a completely average, optimistic but down on his luck black guy as the Hulk. Documentary subjects don’t often get much better, and director Matthew Ogens nails it. Best non 5-star movie I’ve seen on this site. And one of the best overall. Great Piece.
Very Highly Recommended.

why would ANYBODY want to put themself through hollywood. all they care about is money. they dont care about you at all. anything about you or your dreams.
the black guy and the chick get props from me. they have the right idea.

Absolutely LOVED this movie. VERY well done. The mixture of characters, the integration of photographs, the MUSIC, the slow-mo clips… all of it kept me intrigued and interested to view each minute. I also love the characters. I wish them the best of luck!!

I just saw “Superman” this past weekend walking through the shops at Hollywood&Highland;. Said “w’zup” and he said hello back. Seemed like a cool dude. My wife and friends say he’s definitely Christopher Reeve-like. Oh, and I enjoyed watching this feature while at work.
Thanks!

Hey guys do some fact checking. Or was thhe point that Batman only had a black belt in eating cheeseburgers? That fat wanna be couldn’t fight anything that didn’t have a slick coating of mayo. What a joke I’d like to kick right back to the bat cave.

The player really sux. First time on this site and it has a horrible control for moving around in the video. I watched part of the movie and had to come back to it, but couldn’t see the time counter to know exactly where to restart it. You can’t really drag the slider and get to a certain place in the video. Really needs to be worked on. Look at how vimeo and youtube work. Geez.

Actually, Master Shake, I think this would be considered a documentary. It’s following real people in their real profession which happens to be impersonating superheroes.
Posted 02/03/09 by Philip
I really enjoyed this film, “confessions of a superhero” the real lives of superheroes on Hollywood Blvd.
I also give it a four out of five rating.
Posted 02/03/09 by Tim
It is an interesting documentary.
I enjoyed it. Batman has few screws loose upstairs.
Posted 02/03/09 by Master Shake
This is a FILM, but not a documentary. Nothing wrong with entertainment, but this is not reality.

Just finished watching “CONFESSIONS OF A SUPERHERO”. the film was
for the most part, REAL. Real people, real lives. Great concept and very interesting. I actually took the time to watch the film. I gave it a 4 star rating.
Either you like it or you dont. I like the fact behind it all was very real lives. Very interesting......

I for one think that the men and women who remind us that there is a greater good in need and superheroes are welcomed in our community, Wonder woman, Batman the Hulk and Superman are more than an idea, it’s a dream that protects us all. The people who take on these persona’s are going to be remembered, We need and love our heroes. How bland and unsafe it would be to not have them, children and adults alike.Thank all of you, especially Wonder Woman, who could give her up, i would keep you happy i’m sure, use your lasso of truth on me if you don’t believe me, go ahead and use the lasso anyway.love to all of you and be safe.

Very well done. Poignant and hauntingly great. It says a lot about Hollywood and the American way. Superman was/is special in character and in the comics.
I enjoyed it very much and rate it superior.

She says “sure a doctor saves lives, but is he remembered?”
I must have forgotten how many lives street performers saved.

Growing up in Los Angeles...You see these folks every time you take out of towners to visit the walk of fame...this was an interesting look into the lives mof these folks behind the scenes. At times a little depressing and a bit disturbing… I am glad i watched it…

That is so great, that you are all doing this.

I realize how many smiles you put on peoples faces.

I think whatever it was it was good to watch and They make Hollywoodland interesting, however, Superman is too skinny and Batman, well he looks like George Clooney in about twenty years.
Posted 01/31/09 by krimson
Master Shake you must have never gone outside your room. I was in Hollywood for the past 3 years and saw Superman, Jack Sparrow, Wonderwoman, lots of them. You obviously know less than your IQ. Which isn’t saying alot.
Posted 01/31/09 by matt
hey to master shake, your an idiot, there r a ton of those characters out there, i know because i was one of them for 2 years, a couple years back, it is good money when it starts coming in, but i had a real job so this was just acting fun, most people out there its their only job so they get aggressive, but yes it is very real and they r out there, mostly on weekends!!!!
Posted 01/31/09 by Master Shake
One problem with this supposed “reality’ film. I lived just off of Hollywood Blvd. for 20 years and never saw any of these people. In all those years, I saw someone in costume maybe twice - during a movie premier. Unless you count someone dressed as some food item in front of a restaurant. Its a movie. It is NOT a documentary - period.

This was a good film, a new spin on the superhero this is not seen much. I wish all of them well and hope they realize some semblance of their dreams.

The world is desperate for superheroes. Countries like America, India and China can express their deep need of this kind of super human beings through their film industries. Superheroes don’t exist. Superhuman do exist but they are not necessarily super heroes. If superheroes exist, Gaza massacre won’t happen. We don’t need UN and we won’t need US Troops in all other countries and continents to “bring peace” or breed terror.

Very compelling documentary. I have the utmost respect for anyone who has the courage to chase their dreams like these people. I wish them the best of luck, and hope their dreams become reality. God bless.

THIS WAS TRULY AN ENTERTAINING MOVIE. A UNEXPECTED RIDE INTO THE LIVES OF FOUR VERY REAL PEOPLE THAT ARE SEARCHING FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM THAT WE ALL ARE GOING AFTER IN AMERICA. MY HAT OFF TO THE WRITER,DIRECTOR AND PRODUCER. GOD BLESS AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK,ESPECIALLY THE ACTORS!!!

The Actor=The Idiot.
Great movie, BTW.

Where are the movies about The Real Life Superheroes, the individuals who create original superhero identities than go patrol cities, help homeless, volunteer at hospitals and schools, etc.?
This was a great film that embraced the reality of unique individuals in which we live amongst. Weather or not the persons depicted were truthful or not, it was not biased and left the viewers draw up their own opinions. I was left marveled at how each character used their “secret identity” to gut out the daily grind. Awesome movie, 2 thumbs up!
Posted 08/29/08 by Alex
This is an amazing documentary. Sad and informative. I really like how they got so far into their lives that they confess some of their darkest secrets. Great film!
Posted 08/01/08 by Carolynn
Wow. This movie is everything I love about documentaries. It takes a subject that seems boring and unimportant and it portrays it in a way that keeps you captivated.
