I was a 9 year old kid living on Saipan in 1960 when “Hell to Eternity” came out. Of course, Guy Gabaldon was the BIG hero to all of us little kids playing “war” on Saipan. And he was Jeffrey Hunter. Imagine my surprise, 40 years later to be living in New Mexico and finding out that Gabaldon is an Hispanic name? And now, the true story of the true hero comes out and we learn about the real man, the real hero of that movie and those times.
