I really enjoyed this documentary film on the Beatles and John Lennon. Having lived through beatlemania and been a screaming fan in the 60’s, I was fortunate enough to have seen them play live in Cleveland. I pretty much followed their lives throughout their careers and so much of this film brought back great memories of those days.
I think that when they parted ways as a group it was in the natural order of things. They had made their statements in their music and then moved on with their lives. My favorite Beatle was Paul and I feel that overall he has had the most prolific music career of any of the four. Even if John had lived a longer life he didn’t seem to be on a path of a continuing music career.
I never liked Yoko Ono and to this day still do not appreciate her. I remember that she had a child from a previous marriage, a girl, and that her ex husband took that daughter away.I think because of that Yoko didn’t want John to have a close relationship with Julian. That is no excuse in my book for John’s treatment of his son and his ex-wife, Cynthia. The day that John was shot and killed seemed like the end of an era for me and many of my friends. He was 40 and I was 30 at the time. I will always cherish my memories of the Beatles and the part they played in my youth. I think I know every word to every Beatles song. They were the greatest!
