I am amazed at your far left wing tilt regarding torture.  Maybe I’m nuts....seriously, we are in an awful position to need to know what these terrorists know.  Should we just allow to happen the terror that they know will happen or should we, some how, force these terrorist to tell us?

I hope you realize that what you thought was a Bush policy ideal a couple of year ago is not that different that what Barack Obama has put in place today.  yes, it is frightening what is happening in the world, and specifically in the US today.  I fear that too many liberals or conservatives do not realize that the split of our government to one extreme or the other will not further our country, but diminish it. 

Barack Obama does not believe in American exceptionalism.  America was built on ideal that our way of life was THE ideal way of life.  Freedom is the ideal way for humans to live.  George Bush had his idea of what was ideal.  That may not have been ideal for all Americans, but Obama’s ideas for what is ideal, too closely resemble that of early 20th century Russia.  The government cannot make everything better.  Please remember that.

Lots of interesting correlations between Facist regimes and the Bush presidency. It is each and every American’s duty and right to protect the Constitution. Too many do not know what the Constitution is, and claim to be American citizens. It was an eye opener to see what is happening within our own country. Our laws are in place to protect the citizens of the US not to be manipulated by the government for unscrupulous acts. The 911 situation has stirred a lot of unrest but having paramilitary like Blackwater is of great concern.  I feel that the paramilitary work well when infiltrated in countries where the military cannot.  However, it should not be an open door to kill innocent civilians in the process. I was also appalled seeing that a well decorated Vietnam Vet and his family were put on a watch list as well as the presenter of this film. The deepest respect and admiration for the courage to present the facts of the changes taking place in America. We as the American people should be informed of the truth.

I hope Wolf will examine Obama as critically, as he breaks EVERY campaign promise (vis-a-vis transparency, lobbyists, secret deals, communists in his administration) and gives away our future to bankers and foreign interests.

I agreed with this document video and that the US overdone/disobey the constitutions. All of what the US did in the past and today just worsen the future.

I believed that those who had suffer the pain of being accuse and torture whether it was physical or emotional will never forgive and recovered. It’s very painful and emotional to those who had suffer. I am a victim who had also suffer these similarity and it was really ruining my life, career, plan, and dreams. I really hope that many of us will soon recover even if not much but the forgiviness from the buttom of our heart will never given out to those who made us suffer. It was worsen than living in hell.

Naomi Wolf is a highly educated, very intelligent person, with a beautiful soul, a courageous woman, the likes of which duplicated many times over in the U.S. would get us our country back: a free REPUBLIC.  If she’s not married, she’d make a wonderful wife to some good man, with a good soul like hers.

Give me a break, Wolf plays a game of semantics and distorts every story (such as failing to mention that the PATRIOT act simply took many existing laws regarding organized crime such as the RICO statutes and combined them applying it to terrorism cases) in this “documentary” and uses idiotic attempts to draw historical parallels (which I will not attempt to refute in this forum). I am a conservative and by nature very suspicious of the Fed. Govt. so I expected to identify with Wolf on the dangers of the government. But instead it was the usual liberal “blame Bush” attitude. Where are people like Wolf now that Obama and the democrats control the executive and legislator who are attempting the largest expansion of the federal government in the history of this country? This instead is completely targeted towards conservatives and the Bush/Republican administration. Even going to the lengths to attribute conservative grass roots movements to Bush and Cheney.
Reporters and activists like Wolf have never served a day in combat let alone worked with the complexities of intelligence collection and exploitation. She neglects to mention that the “WMD” affair was accurately based off of numerous sources from multiple agencies and governments. Saddam himself even stated that he tried his best to give the impression to the West that he did have MWD’s. Nor did she mention that all American Citizens discussed in this piece were given due process and last time I checked due process applies only to American Citizens. Also, Americans can be charged as Enemy Combatants because there have been American Enemy Combatants in this war such as John Walker Lynn (funny she never mentioned him). Of course Miss. Wolf and others like here will go to great lengths to cry about terrorists getting water boarded and claim we are committing torture. But insurgents do not fall under the Geneva Convention since they are not part of an official military group and do not make themselves known combatants (ie wearing uniforms). In fact the convention did establish that soldiers not wearing uniforms (such as spies) could, if caught fighting, be tried and executed by military trail. Wolf and other elites will hire private body guards but yet decry companies such as Blackwater who played a vital and important role in operations.
Do yourself a favor and research the stories discussed here and find out all the facts (the ones Miss. Wolf left out) and shape your own opinion.

I remember watching the TV on 9/11, then the administration sending troups to Afganistan to find the head
of the terroist group.  Thinking that this was posible a good
thing. Then days later they are sending troups to Iraic. I remember thinking what does this have to do with the terrorist on 9/11. I could not help but think that this was
very wrong for our goverment to be doing. I had a very back and dark feeling about where this country was going.
Then to see the flag waving and people and families being harrassed because they were of Musilim religon, but were
Americans. Theese were people that were just as horrified about the 9/11 bombings as any American. 
I would see news reports that people where not going to let terrorism change our way of life. Bush even made comments to that effect. But our way of life has been radically change by this fear. The fear that the Bush / Chaney pushed at the American people.  Not only to fear people from other countries, but to fear our neighbors. So much so that we should report them to authorities.

read Naomi’s book, I could not put a finger on it of why these changes were making me so uncomfortalbe.
I have past on her book to three people, one who like me

To me, one of the scariest things Obama has done is change the term for the Threat from “Terrorist” to “Extremist.” I guess “Terrorist” was too specific.

This IS NOT a BUSH VS. OBAMA debate! THE PRESIDENCY IS A FIGUREHEAD position representing only the interests of the elite that put them in power. The loss of our freedom has and will continue to occur for a few reasons. Perhaps the largest reason is that the average american is so far removed from the decision-making process that one cannot decide how to effectively participate in this “democracy.” (Which is actually a republic).  Who’s to blame them? Americans work and are consumed by their possessions and hobbies now more than ever.
However, setting the apathy and distractions aside. What if americans did have the time, focus and energy to effectively involve themselves in society? Would it even make a difference? I believe so but not very easily. If americans want their effort to succeed it would depend very much on whether or not they focused on the right issues. For americans to focus on the correct issues party loyalties would have to subside, minds would have to open up and tough conversations would have to occur. Many americans think in simplified terms of republican vs. democrat or in extreme terms such as capitalism vs. socialism. These ways of thinking need to be set aside for a moment. What we as americans really need to focus on is pragmatism. We need to define our goals. What is America’s main objective? Are we for freedom? profit? individual rights? the good of all? If so, by what means and at what expense? Maybe we should revisit our founding documents for reference.
After defining our goals we then need to evaluate where we stand in our current state by developing a list of criteria and identifying how well we are doing. Again, reviewing our founding documents would provide plenty of ideas for criteria. Once we have evaluated where we stand on our mission we can then more clearly choose our path and hold more clearly accountable the representatives responsible for navigating that path.
Going back to this documentary i feel that many of the infringements shown in this video are expressions of our lack of guiding principles in this country. We all want freedom but do not know what freedom is or the sacrifice necessary to achieve and maintain it. We all want individualism but do not know the responsibilities required of it or the potential ills of it’s excess. We all want private property but do not, in many cases realize that most things are not owned by private individuals but instead public corporations and government institutions

A Marxist would advocate government ownership of the means of production; as long there are any private insurance companies, private hospitals, and privately employed doctors, it is not a Marxian solution. The current plan does not eliminate any of these three.

To argue against public education because you do not have I child in school is to argue that there is no role for government at all in the economy. The same logic would also lead one to conclude that we should not pay taxes for any public good we do not choose to use such as roads if one has no car, public libraries if one owns their own books, city sewage systems if one has a septic tank, or public safety agencies if has their own gun. Sharing the cost of such public goods—once enacted into law by our elected representatives--is part of the price of being an American citizen.

I suspect that Dartrich’s real complaint is that his side lost the elections in 2008. Get over it and deal with reality.

If she thinks the Bush administration took away liberties, what the Obama admin is planning to do with health-care is nothing less than Marxism. There is no reasonable excuse for Bush administration events that she discusses in this video.  Since these points made are SO critical to the freedoms of the United States, will she apply these points to the Obama administration as well or continue to give him a pass like so much media has been?  The one that struck me most was point #9 as it relates to town hall meetings of summer ‘09 & Pelosi’s comments about them plus Obama rejecting dissent about his policies.  Bush did not let “a good crisis go to waste,” and neither has Obama.

The cure for these ills requires drastic steps of control to reign in those (criminals?) that would destroy us.  Our government must take over the corrupt banks to clean up the mess - there is no other good choice.  Top greedy executives that probably deserved to be in jail should at least lose their lucrative positions for the damage they have done. Afraid of government run health care?  Are you afraid of Medicare? Millions (the bottom 95% of us) that only have Medicare to rely on for health care would tell you what a wonderful thing it is and we are glad to have it.  The big health care commercial insurance institutions don’t want a government option because it would be competition to their monopoly and help lower run away health care costs. What does Naomi think of the present administration? Where is the freedom? When a President can fire a CEO of private enterprise, take it over with the unions, take over banks, force government run health care on people who do not want it? i don’t see this movie as about right or left. it was the right that put these policies in place, however they are there now for any future leader to abuse.

She also brings up the situation with Dan Rather reporting on Bush’s National Guard service.  Good point, bad example.  It would be a good example if it wasn’t shown later that Rather’s producer knew the report was a lie and the documents were fabricated.  Wolf has several good points, but she seems to think these tactics are only limited to what she believes are rightwingers.  Remember, on the true political spectrum, the farther you go to the left, the more government control you have.  Communism, Socialism, and Fascism are all to the left of the political spectrum.  The original Constitution and Bill of Rights, the views of the Founding Fathers, would be far to the right on the political spectrum.  The belief in limited government and more personal freedom are what is truly “right-wing”.

The attack on civil liberties didn’t start with Bush, it just continued at a faster pace.  Wolf talks about Bush centralizing power in the White House, but Obama is doing the same thing with all these Czars that he has been appointing, which circumvent Congress.  Under Wolf’s example number 1, Obama and the Left are now demonizing conservatives and gun owners.  For her example about a paramilitary force, is that the same thing Obama meant when he talked about a national security force as well funded as the military?  When it comes down to it, my main problem with the ACLU and people like Wolf is that they cry about civil liberties and the Bill of Rights, but they don’t believe that the 2nd Amendment is an individual right.  They talk about the evil State, and how the State is taking rights away, but they say that the 2nd only applies to agents of the State, i.e.the National Guard.  How does “the people” in every other amendment mean individual citizens, yet in the 2nd it means the State?  That makes absolutely no sense.  When the State becomes tyrannical, you can’t set things right without privately owned arms.  She talks about Jews being rounded up, Nazi Germany made sure that the Jews were completely disarmed before they started rounding them up.  If you support the Bill of Rights, you need to support all of them, not just the ones you personally approve of.  The ad for the ACLU on this page says “Let your elected officials know that the Constitution will be the first thing on your mind when you vote.” I do keep that in mind, and I also keep in mind that the ACLU doesn’t believe in ALL of the Constitution

I’m only half way through the movie and don’t know if I can stomach it. I gave up about a third of the way through the book. But I recommend it to everyone who finds her insipid, intellecually elitist attitude aggravating.

I find it unbelievably strange how afraid Americans are of anything that appears “socialist”. A healthcare system that caters to everyone is hardly socialist. Is your police system socialist? Is your emergency fire service socialist? What about the army? What about all the infrastructure like roads and schools payed for with tax dollars, are those all socialist? So you’d rather have a healthcare system that bankrupts people or leaves them to die because they have no money than one that ensures everyone is covered? I hate to break it to you, but health insurance by its very nature is socialist. Hell, insurance of any kind is socailist, that’s how the system works. Everyone’s money is thrown into a pool and dished out when its needed.

Ok, I think people need to understand what socialism is and also the fact that its roots have been in this country since its early days. Now I agree socialism does not work on every level of American society, but it works for libraries, it works for city public education… if the people invest into it, heh even the notion of a nation is socialist. We need to understand that if this country is to succeed, it must invest into its self. Communities investing back into its infrastructure, such as education, public motorways, community service, is.... a socialist idea. And it makes sense. And to make something clear on how this would not equal communism, this is for the people and by the people, thus can not be communist. We elect our officials. Now if you create a private sector for every inch of society’s demands, what right do you have to say anything? about anything? You no longer own a voice in how your garbage is picked up. You agree to the private contract agreement or you dont get it picked up! Capitalism and Socialism, there needs to be a balance. Luckily we have the constitution!

This video is an eye opener and has given me more information on what is going on even today. No Congress, Supreme Court Judge, No Representative, No President is above the law. They all should be held accountable for their actions. This is a government by the people, for the people and of the people.It is time to hold their feet to the fire and if they get burned, so be it. Bill Aggie’s remarks, while well written for a conservative, are completely inane. In case you’re not aware, IRAQ DIDN’T DO IT.  And Saddam Hussein, while being a complete a-hole, DIDN’T DO IT EITHER. Mr Aggie seems to be suggesting that if someone gives us a black eye and we don’t see who it was then we should have the right to beat the hell out of the first guy that annoys us. And no, there have been no further attacks since 9/11, but I certainly don’t beleive it’s because we imprison and torture any one with the wrong name or skin color.
Of couse you are right about one thing, you don’t want me protecting you from terrorists because I would maintain the moral high ground, even if it meant American lives, because I know that in the long run America would prevail. And I would be able to sleep with a clear concience knowing that I didn’t kick the crap out of an innocent guy who just happens to annoy me or controls a vast oil field.

It is correct that Bush did all of these things. He dealt the deadliest blows to the Constitution with the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions Act, to name a few. However, what we now see is Obama not only continuing this march to overthrow freedom, but taking it to a higher level.

His proposed “preventative detention”, which will allow a “new legal regime” the power to lock up Americans without due process, counsel or redress; his proposed North American Treaty with Mexico to create an international gun owner database and put us under international gun laws, his empowerment of the corrupt Federal Reserve to run every aspect of free businesses; his proposed “civilian national security force” that will require MANDATORY service for all Americans beginning in middle school; and the bills proposed by his underlings such as H.R. 2159 and H.R. 2647 (amended) that will take away the Constitutional rights of Americans without due process, are all clear evidence of this war on our liberty.

Everything listed above is really happening, and it is all CONSTITUTIONALLY ILLEGAL.

Not to mention that we were lied to this time also. He promised lobbyists wouldn’t run his Washington: =we have 22 lobbyists in the administration now; end the war in Iraq? =expanded the occupation, then shifted troops into Afghanistan expanding the war, began bombing Pakistan; all bills will be up to read for 5 days? =biggest spending bill in history passed hours after completed against even objections of representatives, and bills continue to be pushed through on emergency basis; the list goes on.

We are under tyranny, plain and simple. We can be sure of this by giving each piece of legislation passed and every action of government the Constitutional Test, nearly all will not pass and are Constitutionally Illegal.

While this documentary does a great job of getting people aware of some of the changes done by the Bush administration it is still lacking information. If you want to really see an informative look into the administration then go to http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/bushswar/ and watch a serious documentary with more credible people. This one is just for show really and it is pretty shallow compared to the frontline documentary.

I voted for Bush and after seeing all of what he was doing realized my mistake. Now I see Obama taking it to a new and higher level. Funny how the race toward Fascism is occuring at an order of magnitude faster under Obama than Bush.  Socialism = Slavery and Obama is a text book socialist.  Obama has more in common with Hitler than Bush did.  Hitler was a socialist, so is Obama, Hitler controlled the media, so does Obama.  Hitler used road projects to boost the German economy, so is Obama.  If you speak out against Obama you are savagly attacked, where is the free speech in that?

The greatest thing Ms. Wolf omits is that Hitler was the leader of hate, he wanted to destroy anyone who wasn’t politically correct.  All the hate today comes from the left.  Obama won’t make little constitutional changes, he’ll make big ones like cap and trade and erasing both the first and sscond amendments.

I live in a large military base area.  I have talked to about 2 dozen of our armed forces that have spent time both in Iraq and Afghanistan. They ALL say we are doing the right thing… the ones willing to give their life for this cause say that Iraq is right, The war on terror is right, our actions are right.  Do you know better than they do?  I am sure there are some in the military that disagree, and that’s the American right, but the majority of them here in good ole Norfolk Virginia are convinced we are doing the right things.  They see the ugly face of terror in a way you can’t.

Since that time, I have learned more and more about our government and the way that things are being run.
Now, I am 21, and a senior at the Medical College of Georgia.
Now, instead of my being scared about some other country destroying the US, I am scared of our own country destroying itself.
This is a great documentary...because its creator actually investigated things. She used her ability to learn to strenghthen her knowledge.
Knowledge equals power.

I am saddened by what our country is becoming...our forefathers would be disgusted. They would literally cry out in fear for they would know what our destiny would be.
I love the quote by Ben Franklin when coming out of the constitutional convention, a woman asked him, “So, what is it?, a Republic? What?,” He replied, “A republic, if you can keep it."...."If you can keep it” packs a lot of meaning to me today. I feel like the walls are beginning to break on us, that now, little pebbles and rocks and dust are falling on our heads, but we brush it off, and don’t think about it. Yet soon, the whole wall will actually fall, and everyone will look around, stuck with no where to go, and no where to turn to, and wonder what has happened. There will be no way out, for it will be too late.

This is because our government is trying to occupy our minds with everything possible, to keep us from smelling the coffee, and realizing what the hell is really going on here.

My grandmother (80 year old) actually thinks that the reason we are at war with Iraq is because of the events that took place on 9/11. She thinks we captured Saddam Hussein because he is the terrorist responsible for the war. She reads no books. Her opinions are the direct result of what she has gathered by watching the television news (all sources). Thousands of people are majorly mistaken similarly. I think our government likes that.

They create problems that cannot be solved, and gather people together for the cause that cannot be achieved. This is so much of our time and concentration is spent on trying to solve the unsolvable problem, and less of our time and concentration is spent on realizing what the real deal is.

We must do something about this.

Aside from the film using a fear factor similar to the way the government uses fear, the facts are presented in a clear and concise manner.  From a milder point of view, you should take away from this film the great importance of an OPEN society, an OPEN government, and a FREE press is to the very fundamentals of what we call freedom. 

We are not going down the path to socialism.  The equilibrium of the pull of government and the free market is undergoing a balancing.  Over time it had shifted so that only a few people were in control of the various markets with no one looking over their shoulder, namely the government.  As flawed as the system may be, officials are elected because we are entrusting them to carry out the laws and values we believe are important to us.  Some of these are laws and values regarding our finances.  Without our elected officials looking over the shoulders of the free market players, which we call regulation, there is no reason for them to gamble and steal our money away from us because there is no fear of repercussions. 

All out, no holds barred capitalism is not only unsustainable, but it is also detriment to the standard definition of a free and functioning democracy.  (Chomsky)

Great Infomercial! Now just apply all these same premises to the current administration. They are using economic fear to send us toward socialism! They are also ignoring constitutional law! This documentary was well done, and non partisan. Well balanced, grounded, and reveals in a well rounded format, the issues we are aware of. But brings them into focus. Unless the American people are willing to, “by any means necessary”, to take control of this Nation, and secure the power base back to the people, very soon, we will be living under a revived “Third Reich-of America”. And the revived “Third Reich of America”, will make the original pale in comparison to the brutal dictatorship forming before our eyes.
The criminal Corporate Cartels have bought our entire judicial and legislative system into it’s grip. Forming the most sophisticated and powerful criminal enterprise in history. The Congress and entire executive branch of America. And this Cartel goes all the way down to our small local governments.

My uncle spent 10 years in a Cuban prison for passing out propaganda to get the communist out of Cuba.  He would not retrain to communism in prison because he believed Cuba was still a free country.  Cuba is still under a police state to this very day. Homeowners lost their Cuban homes and it became state property.  A system of checks and balances can fall apart to our horror even if we believe that nothing can topple the constitution.

Ms. Wolf, I admire your heart, and your passion for what you have written, but you admit that you read a stack of books, all slanted one way, before you became “afraid” (I believe that is the word you used)for America and her loss of freedoms given to us by the constitution. So much propaganda was written during the entire 20th century, so mis-written history is captured forever even in our children’s school books (trivial example: Betsy Ross did NOT make the first flag!), and all of the missing history of the enormous contributions of African-Americans and other minorities. No book is complete. If you had been sitting in the chair of the President or any of his cabinet members, the Supreme Court, Congress or our highest ranking military officers and YOU had to deal with the aftermath of 9/11, to make the people of American feel confindent again, you may have done things differently, or in your desperation and fear and burden of responsibility, you may have not. You cannot and never can say, what you would have done. It is so easy to be a Monday morning quarterback. The word parallels you found, like “Homeland” were rather weak correlations at best. By the way, you have not been arrested, tortured or executed for your book or youe speeches, now have you? Prisoners in our own prisons treat each other much more heinously than anything done to the political prisoners. No one sticks up for them. I can only imagine the utter terror a small, non-athletic male must feel when incarcerated, without strength or skills to protect himself in that setting.
I am so glad to live in a country that will not cut off my hand if a shopkeeper says I stole an apple, or to be forever shunned for being raped, emotionally destroyed to the point of suicide. I am especially glad that you can share your opinions without recourse, as can I.

A- Jack: the movie was made from a book that was written long before Obama took office, so why you would think it was about anything other than the previous administration is a little dense.  It takes longer than 3 weeks to make a movie.  And Bush isn’t long gone.  The mess he created and got to walk away from remains for the rest of us to pick up. 
B- All of the fear coming from the Right that Obama’s attempts to rectify the crises he’s been handed needs to be cooled off a bit.  People freaked out of over FDR too, called him a socialist etc., and many of his reforms helped the US out then and remain to this day.  Because they worked.  Can we just give the man a chance and let him work please?  Btw: Jesus was a socialist. 
C- Jody: people aren’t going on about “their own cowardice” we weren’t listened to from the beginning.  Bush did what he wanted, what served his own interests, and did it badly because he jumped at the opportunity of 9/11 and couched his own agenda under retaliation for that aggression.  Bin Laden hasn’t been caught.  Al Quaeda hasn’t been contained.  And sadly, he did even get his hands on the oil he was after.

This movie was very powerful and I applaud Naomi Wolf’s passionate attempt to protect our freedoms as Americans.  I expect to see a SSSS on my next boarding pass.

I, too, thought this would be about the hijacking of America by socialists, led by Obama, and financed by George Soros. But, no. Just more crap spewed by the left.  Naomi Wolfe should do a little something about how our freedoms will really be eroded by the socialists now in power. She speaks of the Bill of Rights, but doesn’t truly understand what it means. What we are witnessing now is the vilification of capitalism shrouded as Congressional hearings.  Obama will tear down all our institutions if he and his ilk aren’t stopped.

I thought that I was going to see the revelation of the downfall of the greatness of America that the Obama administration is ushering. Too bad the creators of this piece can’t get over their Bush Derangment Syndrome and realize that that Bush is long gone. I knew I wasn’t crazy! I watched End of America a few days ago, and just watched Impaler on here. I knew a voice and style sounded familiar with both and sure enough, I look up IMDB and the director of Impaler, W. Tray White, also worked on The End of America.

I knew about 10 minutes into Impaler that was the same guy that starts out interviewing people ("What do you love about America") in End of America along with the almost exaggerated documentary style camera work. 

I’m just tickled that I was able to spot it and thought I would share!

Naomi Wolf is brilliant. She is insightful and intelligent. She cares for even people like you. Her books draw fourth the principles of what this country was founded on. The patriot act, the military commissions act of 2006, illegal wiretapping, having to pay for permits to use your first amendment rights. You don’t think this affects you.. just wait. But you’ll realize too late, i promise, you’ll realize too late.

Typical liberal paranoia and narrow mindedness. Just don’t tell them that because they are “open minded and progressive” protectors of the world from the evil that is America. To them America is the cause for all the horrors of the world and no matter who attacks us somehow we are always responsible, at lease a little bit in their minds. I watched this silly documentary a while back and was flabbergasted by the self importance and smugness that they have no shame about.

They are ashamed that white Protestants created and laid the foundation for America, the only superpower left in the world, another concept that makes them cringe. They mask their white guilt and disgust for basic American principals by saying “we love America and want it to get back on course” which is loosely translated to “America is the greatest force for destruction so we need evolve into a western Europe society because they are so much more progressive.

You know what, I’ll just stop because I almost feel like I am picking on a small dog which is basically what these pseudo-intellectual hacks are. Small dogs who yap and yap because they do not have the mental ability to even consider that they just might know everything.

Of course I liked the general direction of the Naomi Wolf film, End of America. But I really want to see more depth of discussion, like interviews or quotes from Edward Kennedy about his being on the terror list. What has he done about it? With what results? Also, who is willing to work against this misdirected, fascist turn of government within our congress, the media, the Democratic party, the Greens, etc. In other words, I have the same gripe about this film that I do about nature studies these days; that a dear little creature, like American democratic tradition, is shown in great and compelling detail, and then the overwhelming predator is introduced, and then the outcome is left up in the air. Will the environment shrink until the dear creature is dead? Is it already dead? Are we seeing the last shots ever filmed? Who is ready right now to prevent it? That’s what we need to know right now, as we finish your film; not what vague, gneral steps should any wholesome, good-government type do. Even with the election of a new administration, as the film suggests, the danger is specific and unended. Who in Obama’s camp is with the makers of the film?

this film made the hairs on my hand stand up. it is scary how true her film is. now i want to read her books.

I just watched this film from Naomi Wolfe. She mentions that it was and older lady from Germany that told her America today is much the same as what she was happening in Germany in the 1930s when the Socialist Nazis came to power.

I also met an older woman from Germany who said the very same thing. However, she was working at the Republican Headquarters in Glenn County helping to stop Obama. Naomi, a Democrat, seems to be laying it all at the feet of George Bush.

Naomi’s movie is using this threat to our country to simply play politics against the Republican Party. I am not defending the Republicans because they have also done their part to advance socialism in America. In the name of fighting crime and social justice they have helped institute many unconstitutional laws and programs.

She is not being intellectually honest. Yes we must awaken to what is happening, but in an honest non-political way. I believe it is the Republicans that are fighting for our right to own guns. This alone nullifies Naomi�??s finger pointing at the Bush Administration.

Yes Barrack and the neo-socialist Democrat Party do have an agenda to make us defenseless. Our US Constitution requires we the people to defend the country from all enemies, foreign and domestic. It also requires us to over-throw our government if it becomes tyrannical. This is why the liberal politicians want to take away our right to bear arms.

Naomi mentions Backwater Security Forces as an example of unconstitutional hired guns. However Obama has promised that he will create a Civilian Army to be used against the citizens.

They have an agenda and if the pubic were to know the truth, there would be an uprising.

This is a film worthy of the big screen. Naomi’s argument is bipartisan, and tells the facts with grace and passion. This is a film every American should watch.

It is people like Nigel, the poster before me that will make all these efforts pointless. While he stands around spewing his unrational remarks, making little to no sense, and proving his stupidity he becomes an interferance to unfocus the mission. Nigel...get a life!

This movie is incredible and .needs to be in every theatre in the country! Our only hope of spreading this information is the internet and as soon as Obama takes office we will lose that opportunity as well. Internet will become regulated and controlled. God help us all.

Thank you, loved the film.  I feel so ashamed of myself.  Wish I had seen this along time ago.  Thank you for opening my eyes.  I do feel scared, for the United States.

What eye opening information.  That scene in the park leaves me no doubt as to the truths in this movie and where we are heading.  We need to unite and let congress know we want to be heard.  Spread this important message out.  Thank you for providing this.

HERE IS MY OPINION READ IT NOWNOWNOW. It’s funny that instead of talking about a movie, I see three paragraphs devoted to “I’m so awesome, here’s my sweet opinion. It’s the best. Actually, Julie, you need to put aside the Kool-Aid and get over your hatred of anything associated with George Bush.  I’m not going to try to tell you he was a saint, just to look at reality.  Barack Obama is the most liberal and socialist-thinking person we’ve had near the White House in our lifetimes.  He has talked about “change we can believe in”, but is filling his administration with all the old Clinton cronies, including Hillary.  He is making plans to dramatically increase spending on handouts and freebies for an ever-growing segment of the population, while promising to pay for it all by “making the rich pay their fair share” of taxes. The real tax increases he is proposing will be directly affecting the rich, the upper-middle class, the lower-middle class, and every small business and entrepeneur in our nation.  He has lied or covered up his close ties and affiliations with public figures who have espoused hatred for our nation, hatred for capitalism, hatred for successful business endeavours, hatred for white Americans, hatred for Jewish Americans, and even people who have comitted treason in the form of terrorism, resulting in the death of our fellow citizens. 

Yet other liberals and people like you, who refuse to stand for our nation and all that can be good within it, worry instead about one of two things.  Either the obsession is to rail against all conservatives and Republicans, because that is a continuance of the fight against George Bush, or the obsession is to support Barack Obama to prove that you are a “progressive” who is “racially unbiased” and “modern thinking”, and you want to prove it by electing an African-American.  But you either cannot explain what his actual policies and plans entail, or you deny that all of his anti-American, anti-capitalistic, and racist ties apply to him, or even exist. 

He has been elected President.  As a good American, I will respect him as my President.  However, when our economy continues to crash, when our taxes escalate out of control, when the Islamic extremists celebrate the fact that we will be giving up the fight, when our free speech and information gathering is supressed under the misnomer (actually the lie) of the “Fairness Doctrine”, when we promote federal funding to increase the number of abortions (including late-term and partial-birth which is nothing short of murder) just remember that you won’t be able to blame Bush or the Republican party.  Look in the mirror.

Actually Julie, anyone who knew anything about Obama’s current policies would know that he’s not very liberal at all… as a matter of fact his policies are very similar if not identical to McCains.  The original policies of Obama were lies and his new policies have allowed for leeway to continue the downfall of the “Bush administration” except the Bush administration had no one to blame it on… Obama has the Bush Administration to blame it on, so at this point the man is going to be untouchable.  Every unsavory decision he “has” to make will be turned around and blamed on the Bush Administration.  Obama is a supporter of the patriot act. Obama is NOT going to bring the troops home immediately like he said he would.  The whole republican/democrat adversarial farce is exactly that.  The sad fact of the matter is that the pres. has no power, and where he does have power (bringin our troops home) he won’t be exercising it.  We don’t need a president, and we certainly should rally behind anyone or thing but our own communities.

Stop with the socialist slander etc against Obama. If anyone who makes these claims knew anything about his ideas and policies would understand that he is not all that liberal. He is approaching the problems that America has with caution and thought, and that is what we need right now. After 8 years of a president who did whatever the hell he wanted, and used his faith as a wall against criticism- we need a leader that will listen to the ideas of others regardless of their political affiliation.

People on the right are already piling on the criticism of Obama without bothering read about or investigate what he plans to do. These are all the same people who decided we need to just shut up and write Bush a blank check because our country was in peril. Well, our country is in peril now and Bush is taking his last 2 months in office to pass laws, etc that are going to make it worse. Just wait until all the horror stories come out about the misdeeds done under the umbrella of the patriot act once he is out of office. We do not even know the half of it yet.

Obama spoke out against the war, and that is what people do not like. I work at a VA hospital running group sessions, and I can’t tell you how many of these vets are excited that we have a pres-elect that is willing to speak out. They don’t feel like he is demeaning their service in ANY way- and they feel angry that pundits like the ones on FOX news think they need to have someone stand up for them that does not even know how they really feel- these men and women are perfectly capable of speaking for themselves.

We need to stand behind our president now as a united country, speak out when we feel he has made a mistake, laud him when he has moved us in the right direction. The election is over, and with it the ugliness of the McCain campaign- trying to divide us and turn one part of the country against another (I saw more than one McCain speech when he would make an obvious ill remark about one region or city, and then wait for the boos to start before he continued.)Obama did not make McCain look bad and ill prepared, he did that on his own. People booing Obama at the concession speech was the last straw for me. It is depressing and time for things to change, time to try something new- and instead of being angry it is time for us all to work together, and not let our prejudices and fear get in the way. Bush spent 8 years scaring the hell out of us, isolating us from the world. Let’s change it.

G.W. Bush did NOT consider the Constitution a hindrance to what he had planned. Even though the Constitution prohibited it, he did it anyway. I like Obama’s attitude.

The US Supreme Court didn’t appoint Bush as President, they merely prevented the Florida State Supreme Court from appointing Gore.

It will be interesting to see if Naomi Wolf is as interested in the suppression of free speech via the “fairness doctrine” as she is in the extension of constitutional rights to people who don’t qualify for POW status under the Geneva Conventions.  For that matter, I’ll be interested to see her reaction to Obama’s desired civilian security forces that he says he wants to have (that he wants to be as big as and as well funded as the military), and if it in any way resembles her reaction to supposed “use of paramilitary groups” under Bush.

I agree with Robert O’Brien that the repeated commercials savagely undermine the value of this film. It is indeed ironic that a film about the gradual advent of a fascist, rogue government should have its message so blunted as to be ineffective by the insistence on mindless, fear-mongering advertising.

Your concerns echo my own and those of a lot of people, who say “Okay, I’m awake! Now what do I do?”

I recently realised that the knee-jerk reaction a lot of folks have that causes them to accuse people of being paranoid or even mock them for it arises from what in many cases is their own fear that is for one reason or another unable to manifest in the open yet.  So what happens is they gain satisfaction from thinking of YOU as insane, and themselves as level-headed and rational.  But I have a deeply held instinct that Americans are very worried about this and it is exactly that worry that is making them LIE to themselves and others and make excuses.  Another reason is that we all feel so powerless to change things, especially when we’ve grown up thinking of ourselves as a democracy, but in this century have seen such brazen stealing of elections by the elites and the party representing them.

I wish I had more to offer in the way of suggestions but I want to, with the deepest sincerity, ask that you NOT take any advice by people who tell you ‘don’t start trouble for others’.  YOU are important, too, and you have a divine birthright to be concerned about yourself and your loved ones and the future they will have. 

And sometimes, if you can be patient but at the same time, not procrastinating, if one can be steadfast and unpanicky in demeanour, and concentrate on a few known individuals they will come around.  If someone is too worried about their own lives to deal with something that WILL impact those lives (and bust the bubble of comfort they’re trying to wrap around themselves) you can perhaps offer, in some way, to help them, babysit for them, offer to do laundry for a working parent or help someone care for their elders, there are lots of inroads.  When you participate in someone’s life pains sometimes that person will take their guard down and admit how scared they are.  Frame discussion of it in ways that they don’t have to concede to you that you’re right and they’re wrong.  For more suggestions you might try meeting with your local 9/11 Truth group, because many of these folks talk about how to respond to the totalitarianization of our nation now, instead of just mulling over the conspiracies, figuring it is less important who was behind 9/11 than it is what lies in FRONT of today.

Unfortunately, there are so few people who WILL stand up for thier rights. Too few are aware that they even HAVE that right.I’ve talked to a lot of people about this very issue, only to be told that I’m being paranoid, that there’s nothing anyone can do,anyway. Too many people in this country are made to believe that they shouldn’t, or can’t, stand up for thier rights, or that the only way to do it is to take part in some little street-corner protest.

My own family members (the ones who aren’t rabid right-wingers) feel that all we have to do is get a Democrat back in office and it will all go away.So many people are too brainwashed to stand up for themselves anymore.And the ones who aren’t brainwashed are too afraid,and won’t risk even going to a protest- there are too many excuses not to. I hear “ I can’t, I have kids to take care of.” “I can’t, my health is too bad right now.” “ I can’t, I have to keep my job.” I’ve brought up Naomi Wolf’s work, among others, as a reason for us to pay attention, only to be told I should stop being so paranoid.

Even those who COULD stand up don’t, because they’ve been made too afraid already. I have a couple of relatives who will stop me when I start talking about politics on instant message, or on the phone- they know someone might be listening, and don’t want to be “red-flagged”. The moment I say anything bad about certain presidents, they get defensive, and tell me to change the subject.I’ve told them that as many anti-Bush organizations as I’ve joined, I’m pretty sure I already have a file somewhere, and I couldn’t possibly care less- that we have a RIGHT to speak out, and stand up, and if we won’t, maybe we don’t deserve that right. I’m usually told, at that point, not to “start trouble for others”. Sad, isn’t it?

So, yes, we HAVE to stand up and demand our rights back.But, how do we convince all of those who just don’t care, or won’t listen, that if they don’t stand up, they too will become victims, just like what happened in Germany, in Italy, and in all the other countries who followed the blueprints Naomi Wolf points out to us?

Apparently U.S.’s fear of opposition is what’s endangering U.S. democracy. Isn’t that paranoid and sociopathic? Maybe treating the country as a whole, from top to bottom for those ailments is what the U.S. ought to be focusing on now: a cure and not just a band-aid. Obviously the wound is getting infected. And what caused the wound to begin with? It’s time the U.S. gets real and quit skipping around the issue as to the true nature of the country’s infirmities. Something has greatly affected America. Unlimited wire taps without warrants, to include emails, and what does congress do? They pass a law to retroactively forgive these constitutional violations and allow them to continue. Aside from the fact that I do not understand how a piece of legislation can trump the constitution, I cannot understand how 535 senators and congressional representatives could rubber stamp this outrage! Executive signings?? Since when does the executive branch get to write or modify legislation that is clearly the duty of the of the legislative branch? Even trade agreements like NAFTA, CAFTA et al, are clearly treaties which according to the constitution must be ratified by a super majority of the Senate. Now the Bush adminstration, having refused to enforce any regulations on financial institutions or corporations, is using the financial disater that has resulted to , in effect, nationalize many of these failing institutions. What is next, martial law?
The American people must wake up to what is happening to our constitution and our rights.

I live in new zealand and would love to see this movie .Naomi Wolf “gets it” as do millions of other Americans but the “masses” only seem to watch Fox News for their view of whats really happening.I can remember a time when America was looked up to ,not despised and feared as it is now.After the events of 911 the world was ready to assist the American people in any way possible to bring to justice the perpetrators of that tragic day .But your own Government had to be harassed to investigate the crime committed on 911 and finally after 441 days authorized an investigation .Which they then installed people of questionable qualifications to run.They budgeted less monies for the investigation than was spent on Clintons involvement with an intern by a factor of 10.Almost 3 thousand people died on 911 and it directly and indirectly lead to two wars and that’s the best America can do ? I think not ,hundreds of pages written by the “911 Commission” but not a mention of WTC 7 ,a 47 story building that collapsed into it’s own footprint at 5.20 P.M on 911 even tho it was never hit by an airplane .

Naomi is right on. I’ve watched her lectures on youtube about a year ago and they have really opened my eyes to what is happening. I don’t understand how so many people can sit by and watch as all of our freedoms are taken away. We will never get them back!

I actually bought 2 copies of the book. One for my family and one to loan out to my neighbors. It is THAT important.  I am a descendant of two of the signers of The Declaration of Independence.  It sickens me to see what has been allowed to happen in our country because we have become so caught up in keeping up with our neighbors our liberties have been hijacked. It must stop “We The People” are the future of this country NOT the politicians or the people who own them. It is our duty as citizens to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

This will take a united front in what will mostly prove to be an uphill battle to re-establish the Constitution and regain our freedoms.  Congress must once again be made to serve the people that elect the members instead of the lobbyists and special interests groups.  MSM must be made to print the news and not propaganda.  Unconstitutional laws must be revoked and the rule of law must be made just and reasonable for all.

Naomi Wolf is right.  If you have not yet read her book, you should.  Once again, our country needs us, not in Iraq or Afghanistan, but right here at home, to fight for the freedoms our parents and our grandparents fought for, from Anzio to Iwo Jima, from the Argonne Forest to Berlin.  Our freedom, our Constitution, our entire history and way of life is being destroyed by the neofascists behind our politicians.  We need to mobilize a counterforce in our politics and put real pressure on these New World Order storm troopers, our all that we and our ancestors fought for will be lost.  If you want your children to be free, fight, before it’s too late.

How disappointing that I can’t see this because I live in Canada! 
I find it more than a little ironic that the viewing of a film about the growth of ‘undemocracy’ is controlled by the undemocratic copyright laws powered by the very government and corporations that are under fire in this film. 
The cancerous growth of copyright over the last few decades, including the recent draconian laws just passed in the US, is a very powerful tool in the control of thought and the free exchange of ideas.
The control of the flow of information is central to the control of our lives.  Surely SnagFilms can do better than this!

Whether you agree with the details presented here or not, I find that I cannot disagree with the conclusion.  I hope that through viewing, discussing, and acting as citizens of a free country, we can work through the process of undoing so much of the harm that has been done.
