Jerry Aronson, please contact me as I have several videos of Allen in early 80s as he did an album with our band in Denver. Not selling anything, just trying to help.

It’s NO doubt...That Ginsberg,"the Man” was a Giant. His Example epitomized All that was decent, about Humanity. Yet I had a Most Unusual “encounter"with Allen.

If you can’t feel the love this man had for his country and fellow man and life, then you don’t have a heart—and are as good as dead. Posted 10/02/09 by michael
I was fortunate to have seen Mr. Ginsberg in concert in my college years. he played his harmonium and chanted. he radiated wisdom and peace and a firm love of life. its no wonder “the left” honors him: he was a great poet and visionary. Posted 09/28/09 by Leslie
I loved this. It was inspiring and brought me back to my youth. I am sure that Ginsberg would agree that writing is a catharsis. It allows one to cleanse their minds and free their souls from life’s inevitable events that cause us pain. Thank you. Posted 09/25/09 by Jack McManus
Ginsburg was an America hating degenerate, child molesting drug addict NAMBLA member who represents the total depravity of the left. Its no wonder the left honors him. Posted 09/13/09 by Robert Stagemyer

Still an approachable gentleman over coffee & dessert. Now I better understand the passion of a man who like no one else could paint images with sound & construct of language so intimately intertwined with soul. An Amazing Man & the company he kept… Many Thanx, Posted 01/30/09 by SMURFYSA

The Boston Globe-Beating the drum for a poet-visionary!
Desk officers at the State Department have a term for what befalls colleagues stationed abroad: “clientism.” It describes what happens when diplomats get so caught up in the opinions, attitudes, and needs of the country they’re stationed in that their dispatches begin to take on a native coloration. They end up unconsciously representing their “client” country more than they do the United States.
First released in 1994, then in a revised version in 2005 (eight years after Ginsberg’s death), Aronson’s film is a labor of love. He spent a dozen years filming Ginsberg - we see him reading his poetry, answering questions, conversing with old pals like William Burroughs - yet there’s a sense of every frame and syllable mattering.
A second disc includes footage from a memorial service for Ginsberg at New York’s Cathedral of St. John the Divine, as well as excerpts from the extensive interviews Aronson conducted with friends and associates. How extensive? We get Hunter S. Thompson, Andy Warhol, Philip Glass, Ken Kesey, Stan Brakhage, Lawrence Ferlinghetti (you get the idea), as well as such latter-day admirers as Beck, Bono, and Johnny Depp. This is a very rich slice of cultural history, lovingly presented. Fascinating must see film for anyone with an interest in Ginsberg and the Beat era. This is a funny and moving film who’s maker seems to really share the life of the man. Posted 01/27/09 by Mark Apostolon
The film is it is not your average documentary - it’s a fantastic comperhensive work encompassing Ginsberg’s youth to his death. And it’s truly all Allen in action from start to end. The documentary hits all the right notes, never too long, never too short. That’s something especially when you take into account the subject in what could have been a daunting experience for Aronson. But Jerry pulls off a witty, insightful, moving, unblinking, and explorative documentary into what is arguable one of the most complex personalities (and mind) of the last century. Perfection! There is a great website for this film. The DVD has over 6 hours of extras and the website gives a great idea of what that is. Everything is clickable and there are many short excerpts from the numerous extras: |
