This movie makes me realize that we need to reform the jury system. A jury is meant to be one of your “peers” not of your friends. Therefore, the jury for Dan White’s murders should have been a representation of the population in that area. This country needs to have justice for all, not just the white-straight religious fanatics who try to own the country of the U.S.

The film was produced after Milk’s death using original interviews, exclusive documentary footage, news reports, and archival footage, so that Milk is credited as the lead.The film won the Academy Award for best documentary film in 1985,[4..its really super movie..

I arrived to teach in Orange County, CA in 1976.  Having lived deeply in Detroit and Tempe/Mesa, AZ closets, I was now 31, teaching in a CA school district, and facing PROP 6. My partner worked for the State of CA and was more scared than I was.  But, I wore the button discreetly, and worked on phone banks anonymously, and on election day, I joined with other teachers in the auditorium parking lot where voting was taking place inside, and in the windows of our cars were huge posters which said, “VOTE NO ON 6.” I had finally arrived in my new home state. 
I cried at the “MILK” movie, but came out of the theatre PROUD and grinning.  I cried during this video when JIMMY CARTER said, “Vote NO on Prop 6.”
I’m retired now and my partner and I never did the marriage bit after our 28 years, though many of our friends did and the months before that Nov, 2008 election were filled with glorious declarations and parties and the real FAMILIES of the brides and grooms. Perhaps with the next rounds of HATE and ignorant bigoted people wanting to undermine our Human Rights, we will finally feel free enough to come out of our closet to her family and marry then - if we don’t die of old age first.

The movie does not load. The page is here, open for 2 hours and it’s apearing just the LOADING message. I don’t know if it’s normal, but a loading progress bar would be very useful.

Same thing happened to me.  The section of the film ends with Dan White abruptly resigning from the Board of Supervisors, then it goes to commercial and when it comes back, there is a small box with links to Sponsors.  When you close the box, the movie starts from the beginning.  I’ve fast forwarded through the thing 3 times - even tried clicking the link to the sponsor’s web page - and each time the movie ends abruptly and starts again from the beginning. Very frustrating.  P.S. Clicked over here from Andrew Sullivan.

Same thing happened - why did the movie abruptly end over halfway through the movie?  How can you start the movie again from the middle to make up for this?

What’s with the movie ending abruptly in the middle of a sentence? This site really needs some work…
