Posted April 17, 2009 April 17, 2009 - SnagFilms today announced it is collaborating with YouTube as a charter partner in YouTube’s launch of long form feature content on April 17, 2009.
SnagFilms brings the best nonfiction films to the web audience, promotes viral web distribution through virtual movie theater widgets, and engages viewers to assist in charitable and community efforts. YouTube is the leading online video community that allows people to discover, watch and share originally created videos.
The deal allows for YouTube users to view for free ad-supported, full length feature documentary films selected from the online library at SnagFilms. In addition to being able to find films via YouTube’s search feature, users will also be able to visit the SnagFilms channel on YouTube to see listings from its documentary library. The initial slate of films will be selected from the 650 high quality documentaries currently available on SnagFilms, and will continue to grow over time under SnagFilms’ curation of the channel. SnagFilms splits the revenue it receives from the accompanying commercials with its filmmakers.
