Posted January 22, 2009 SnagFilms’ very first Sundance was chock full of meetings, screenings and events. Here are some highlights: On Saturday January 19th at a reception celebrating independent filmmaking and the relaunch of indieWIRE, co-hosted by SnagFilms and indieGoGo, a very special guest - Robert Redford - stopped by. Check out the coverage and photo on indieWIRE: SnagFilms Sundance Reception Favorite documentary screenings include Sergio, an inspiring documentary about Sergio Vieira de Mello, Kimjongilia, a harrowing look at life in North Korea, and Tyson directed by James Toback. Ones we missed but have been generating a lot of buzz are The Cove and Crude. SnagFilms participated on a Sundance Panel about new moviemaking ideas that thrive on the web and a Slamdance Panel on DYI distribution and promotion. Today we will be on a second Sundance Panel about documentary filmmaking and the participatory value of the Internet and will be presenting SnagFilms at a breakfast reception with all the Sundance international documentary filmmakers. Without a doubt, Sundance 2009 is crackling with interest in digital distribution. There’s a shared realization that online film distribution is coming into its own this year. The future is finally here. More recap on Sundance when SnagFilms returns to NYC tonight. |
