Washington, DC, July 16, 2009 - SnagFilms today announced it will provide Fancast (www.fancast.com), Comcast Interactive Media’s (CIM) online entertainment destination, with films from its award winning documentary library, diversifying and deepening Fancast’s online consumer entertainment experience. Films from The SnagFilms SummerFest, a special online film festival featuring one-week sneak-peek screenings of four films that have not yet been distributed theatrically or on TV, will be available on Fancast over a four-week period beginning on July 24. “The Entrepreneur”, executive produced by Morgan Spurlock of Super Size Me and 30 Days fame, will be the first of such films.
“Fancast is a cutting edge entertainment web site, and SnagFilms is delighted to provide its users with great films from our growing library. This partnership is a win-win situation for everybody: SnagFilms’ quality non-fiction films reach a larger audience and Fancast expands their library of entertaining on-demand content,” said Rick Allen, CEO of SnagFilms. “We’re used to Comcast providing leadership across a range of distribution platforms, so featuring our SummerFest sneak-peeks and selections of our library on Fancast is a natural next step.”
SnagFilms brings the best nonfiction films to the web audience, promotes viral web distribution through virtual movie theater widgets, and engages viewers to assist in charitable and community efforts. Since its July 2008 launch, SnagFilms has expanded across a range of online platforms bringing previously under-represented documentary films to an audience of millions.
“Fancast is proud to host these stellar documentary films from such a great partner as SnagFilms” said Karin Gilford, Senior Vice President of Fancast and Online Entertainment at Comcast Interactive Media. “We are focused on giving our fans a wide berth of entertainment content for their viewing and believe that these documentary titles will definitely enhance their experience on Fancast.”
Fancast provides users with instant access to an extensive video collection of television shows, movies, trailers and clips, so they can watch their favorite programming. The SnagFilms and Fancast partnership will initially provide Fancast users with instant access to 15 films from SnagFilms’ library and will increase over time to meet the interest and demands of viewers.
In addition to The Entrepreneur, initial films available on Fancast include: New England Hockey: Life at the Rink, Saint of 9/11, A Cut Above: 100 Seasons of Duke Basketball, Slammed, Christopher Reeve: Hope in Motion and more…
