Fifteen nationally acclaimed artists provide a parade of moods, rhythms and colors for people to enjoy as they travel on an elevated train throughout Downtown Detroit.
Chairperson, Irene Walt, created a People Mover Art Commission and together they raised the money and selected the artists. Art in the Stations explores the creation and installation of 15 dynamic works of art in various mediums in the 13 stations of the People Mover. Among the leading artists we meet are Allie McGhee, Kirk Newman, Charles McGee, Farley Tobin, Gerome Kamrowski, Joyce Kozloff, Alvin Loving, Jr., George Woodman, Glen Michaels, Stephen Antonakos, Jun Keneko, J. Seward Johnson, and Diana Kulisek and Tom Phardel.
