I happen to watch this magnificent film, “Churning the Sea of Time,” last night, after reading Nick Kristoff’s two chilling recent columns in the New York Times about sexual slavery in Cambodia. I was so impressed that the director, Les Guthman, quoted earlier writings by Kristoff on sexual predators in Phnom Penh in “Churning the Sea of Time,” which was made two years ago. Excellent film! However, the only way to grasp Angkor is to be there. I hope that someone will choose to amplify the issue of Landmines that is mentioned a few times in the film. Cambodia is the most heavily mined country on earth. Poverty forces people into known mined areas to farm, scavenge or simply gather firewood. Humanitarian Demining projects are ongoing and the organizations doinjg the work need your support.
