This indie British dramedy is the story of Eileen, a former dancer and divorced mother of two children?both of whom are about to fly the nest. The summer stretches out before them as her kids make plans to travel abroad, to go to a music festival, to attend their dad?s wedding. Eileen, however, is staying put in North London, where she works at a suburban cricket club. There she meets pot smoking ex-cricketer Bill, and romance begins to blossom. But the fling dredges up old insecurities, and one day under the guise of celebrating her new "love" she indulges in a glass of champagne?which triggers a relapse into her alcoholic past and the near-implosion of her family.
