  James Brown,Jimi,Ike&Tina;,Stevie Wonder,Mother's Finest,Sly&the;Family Stone,P-Funk,Earth,Wind,& Fire,Stanley Clarke,Charlie Pride;they all made it to the Bilboard.Rock in general is mostly overlooked because the rock-image is hard to market on a longtermperiod.Trends are easy to cash in for the music-industry.

  This documentary is a MUST SEE for everyone who loves music . But in my opinion, it is not enough to love it, you must UNDERSTAND it. As a rock and roll fan, I do not think I could call myself such a title if I had no idea where rock and roll came from in the first place. After watching this, I learned two important factors. One,as a fan, keep supporting all this great music...go to the shows, buy these artists music, ect. and two, the powers that be may be raking in all the green and all these great artists, sadly enough, are not being recognized like they certainly should, but guess what music industry...YOU CAN'T TAKE THE MUSIC WE LOVE OUT OF OUR HEARTS...and that in itself, is priceless. To the talented artists mentioned in this film who have now passed, I say thank you for sharing your gift with us. And for the artists who are still here with us now...keep breaking those doors. Keep being who you are. The fans are listening. I know I am. And I am loving what I hear. In the words of one all my all time favorite bands, King's X..."Music, music, I hear music." All the artists mentioned here, have music that is meant to be heard and appreciated.

  To many bruthaz in this movie blaming whitie instead of the industry. The musicians blame the industry the reporters blame it on a race which is BS. The press is the enmity programing us to play John Madden on X Box instead of Guitar, the press is the white Devil. This movie is unfair to white musicians, it's not there fault. Bruthaz need to look forward and be thankful that they can play music for a living. Buy your music from these bands don't download it, they work for a living. You want to download Usher go ahead but buy 24-7 spyz and Fishbone's music.

  Good film and it made some very valid points.While most of these artists may blame the record companies for their lack of marketing,they also have to take into consideration their "Target Audience" may not like the type of music that these bands offer.Dug Pinnick said it best when he said that most blacks hate guitar.This point is right on the money.I took a 5 hour ride with 5 black coworkers to the north end of the State(MI),and I played 24-7 Spyz,Fishbone,Living Colour,etc.And only the musician(1) in my van liked the music.The others were saying"Enough Already Dave,come on man,play some Jay Z" I played Geto Boys instead.I can guarantee that no black kids(or very,very few)play Guitar Hero compared to Madden NFL or others.It's in the culture,and this younger crowd could care less about Black Rock Bands and their plight.Sad but true.Like Questlove said,they are more into T-Pain,or Lil Wayne or stuff like that.They cannot relate to Rock music as a whole.That is why you see all white crowds at Fishbone,Living Colour,or 24-7 Spyz.I know because I go to these shows so I can say firsthand.The blacks that I do see there either work at the local record store or music store.If more black kids got into the Black Rock Bands,then the numbers(Soundscan)could not be denied.I think this is why Rock music as a whole is losing ground sales-wise.HipHop and now the resugence of House is taking away the Rock numbers.It will take another Cycle again just as Nirvana did to Hair Metal and what HipHop did to Grunge.Think about it,how well did the last Chili Peppers or Janes Addiction records do?Nuff said.Overall I liked this movie.I just hope that young people even gave a #### to watch it.

  I just finish watching this amazing documentary,and I simply enjoyed it. I missed it when it aired on Ovation network during Black History Month,but I hope the word gets out and more people will watch it or buy the documentary. I give it 5 ***** INCREDIBLE ! I'm going to pass the word about this documentary! Peace
