In this episode Jeff hangs out with some vocal African penguins. Known for its donkey like bray, the African penguin is currently facing potential extinction as warming oceans around the southern tip of Africa continue to move its food source further away from its home.
Through this entire series, Jeff Corwin brings his love of animals and a wealth of knowledge from years of travel and exploration to the screen as he shares his own experiences and firsthand accounts of the detrimental and devastating effects climate change is having on our planet's wildlife. This series is made up of 11 videos, featuring the polar bear, sea turtles, penguins, frogs, monarch butterflies, caribou, lynx, wolverine, coral reefs, fur seals, and lobster, and are supplemented by fact sheets with more in-depth information about each animal including fun facts, behavior, threats, and hope on Defenders of Wildlife's web page.
Climate change is one of the single most devastating threats to our planet's biodiversity and wildlife. It is estimated that over the next century the Earth will warm by as much as 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Animals will be forced to adapt or migrate to new areas to try and find suitable habitat in which to live. Some animals might not survive.
