  I am mortified that there is no realization from many of the FACT that oil is going to be gone...regardless of what we do. (fossil fuel mean anything?) The USA uses approximately 30 million barrels a day (42 gallons per barrel) and world consumption is presently at 80 million barrels a day. (soon will eclispe 100 million) If we as a WORLD decided TODAY to stop the use of oil it would take approximately 2.1 TRILLION barrels before we are done....drilling IS NOT THE ANSWER.

  I agree that we should continue drilling for new oil to rid our country of overseas's dependency of oil. What i don't understand is the lack of appreciation on the part of Iraq's government. Our men and women have given their lives for those towel heads and all we've ever heard is that they want us out of there, period. No thank you, no oil concessions, nothing!What we should have done is after whipping their asses is take over their oil.Our government is nothing but a bunch of spineless morons.

  oil has been leaking into the louisiana marshes and the gulf for thousands of years. the dispersement they released is the thing doing the damage. i have fished regulary down along the coast and catch fish near oil spill areas and have not seen an adverse impact on the redfish or specks in these areas.

  After living in Louisiana for 17.5 years as a fulltime Environmental Professional, I would advise you to do some historic checks on the people you feature in your feature. "Wilma Subra" is a self-work-generating fanatic. I worked for both private industry as well as the State Leading Regulatory agency. She has fabricated and raised public alarm regularly for eh past 30 years to generate sampling and analysis for HER OWN LABORATORY. I am NOT A FAN of BP AT ALL and feel as though they should be held responsible for all damage done. The problem is these people were allowed to disperse this oil into the water column so it wouldn’t be floating around for the public to “SEE”; private industry got away with letting this oil be dispersed throughout the water column impacting all Trophic levels and made it impossible to track. The damages will be ongoing and years in the making.

  yes, one sided scientific theories. I love watching someone collecting bugs from one location with a larger area of brown (dead) vegetation and then going to a "healthy" area and collecting bugs from an area much fuller in vegetation growth.. Look look... I found a pebble of crap... If I looked for garbage I would find it faster and more of an environmental impact than that droplet of oil.

  This is my first time watching anything from SnagFilm and I am glad this movie is short--otherwise it is a total waste of time. It does not really provides much useful information or facts other than the opinions of a single group of activists. Very disappointed. National Geographic should do a better job. I can't believe Ted recommended it...

  a well done film. It presents a point of view that is very questionable as it presents much more opinion than evidence. my opinion is that "experts" are wrong a lot more often than they are right. It is to soon to make any firm ideas.

  This films lacks any substantial facts other than the fact that there was an oil spill in the gulf. It appears that their research, however flawed, has not demonstrated any lasting effects of the oil spill. Sure, there was about 3,000 acres of marsh that was contaminated, but this contamination area is less than a drop in the bucket compared to the expanse of the gulf coast. However, I do applaud their efforts and encourage them to continue their research.

  I guess since they're having so much trouble finding any actual significant damage perhaps the answer is there is none? No, Joseph Ray is correct and JimHinCo is wrong. There are natural seeps which cause tar balls - always have, always will. And yes, producing our own oil, gas and coal resources, though not unlimited certainly significantly abundant, does give us freedom - freedom from economic bondage to regimes led by people like Chavez, Ahmadinejad and others who would love to see us weakened or destroyed.

  Joseph Ray: I'd recommend you actually educate yourself on what a hypocrite is - what you are describing are leaches, not leashes. But those aren't hypocrits at all. Oil has never been a source of independence or freedom. I'm not sure where you got that idea. Wouldn't greatly reducing our oil needs be the exact same independence instead of bleeding our lands dry of something that is a limited resource. Your vision is what, 5 years and then we are back in the exact same boat? How about a long range plan?

  Hypocrites are a kind word to describe the people who continue to fault BP for all of the tar balls on the beaches along the Gulf Coast. I took my family to the beaches there for a summer back in the mid eighty’s and every day we had to wash the tar off of our feet and legs after playing in the ocean. The sand was white and beautiful, but the tar balls were a distraction well before BP drilled in the deep water attempting to provide oil to us in the United States. These people that continue to bleed BP for cash are nothing more than leashes. It is time to drill baby drill in the United States and reclaim our independence from the world that wants to do damage to our freedom. Sue, you must be looking for a reason to cry because BP has more compassion than the people who are preventing continued drilling. So, cry Sue cry for the loss of our country and our freedom you do not understand.

  What a bunch of hypocrites, they had coolers made from oil, their cloths are made from oil, OMG they are in a power boat burning oil related products.. Why the heck aren't they in a sailing ship built form recycled lumber.. I have some news for you oil is a fertilizer the place will be greener than it was before the whole mess..

  Anybody looking for BP oil tarballs can find all they want along the Florida Panhandle beaches, at least those outside the tourist destinations. You can go on Youtube and watch plenty of videos, including my own, "BP Tarballs Alive and Well on Florida Beaches."

  This film makes me wanna cry. Who is going to make BP come back and finish cleaning up the mess they made? No one cares about the Louisiana Cajuns. ...and no, noone eats just 4 shrimp and they eat seafood EVERY day.
