Using a prosthetic limb, a young Chechen runner, participates in New York's 5-kilometer race of Hope and Possibility
A CINELAN Three Minute Story. In 2007, the Achilles Track Club of New York brought a young Chechen runner to the city to join in its 5-kilometer race of Hope and Possibility. Running on crutches, Adam’s presence capped a three-year campaign by the club founder to sponsor his trip. The goal of the 20-year-old’s New York trip was to replace his antiquated prosthesis with one that would allow him to renew his passion for running. When he was 10, Adam and three friends found an unexploded artillery shell. They began playing with it until the inevitable happened. Adam was the only survivor, the price of childhood play his right leg below the knee. Running was an agony as his crude locally-made prosthesis rubbed the stump raw. In this short film, Allgeier and Chejade-Bloom, begin with grainy, black-and-white footage of Adam as he describes his childhood accident, followed by film of the American craftsman who gives his running new life, allowing him to race in New York to the cheers of the crowd and fellow runners.

Your documentary on Adam’s participation in the Hope & Possibility race is a moving tribute to his courage. I am making a feature documentary about victims of the Chechen conflict and Russian soldiers, on which Adam has been involved. I would appreciate it if one of the directors or producer could contact me. Many thanks.
