Extreme’s of any kind always smell of a bad idea.  Yes, there should be old white guys in gov’t, and there should be old black men and women and perhaps other ethnicities in gov’t.  And there should also be young ones of all types, as well. 

Our government was brilliantly designed to not be rigid; for the people to constantly challenge it and perhaps even overthrow it if the government stops meeting their needs.  I’m not saying we’re at that point, but this gov’t was founded in that spirit.

What is clear in this country is the economic divide.  There IS a problem if 1% of the country has a majority of its wealth.  So unless, you are arguing in favor of this divide, the playing field needs to be leveled, and one way of that is access to education.  Education pays off in all sorts of ways that don’t just benefit the individual but the society as well.  Are you against this?  But even without that, if the majority of the people demand potato chips on wednesdays to be, or some other ludicrous but benign desire, the government should respond.

First of all, excellent film. I admire the organization and political voice from our generation that went into the production.

However, I disagree with a few of the statements made. First, the complaint of student loans and the cost of college was made a few times. To this, all I have to say is, a college education is a privilege, and a choice. There’s a reason that college graduates typically make more money than high school grads, because the skills and education they possess that are learned in college are valuable to the corporate world. It’s your choice to purchase these skills. It pays off in the long run.

Second, what is so wrong with the government being run by “old, white, males?” Who wants a government run by a group of 20 year old kids? Who knows better how to run America, someone who’s only been alive long enough to witness 2 presidents reside at the White House, or someone who’s CLEARLY witnessed 20 or 30 years of political progression?

I’m not trying to bash anyone’s beliefs, because I am actually inspired that so many kids my age are interested in the issues at hand. I am, however, worried that our generation is getting the wrong idea in thinking that our government owes us more than what they already provide. So you have to pay for health care...so what! Be thankful that you live in a country where your health care is regulated and public schools are available.

Like the film said, whether you’re liberal, conservative, moderate, whatever! November 4th, get out there and VOTE! Make your voice heard.

The reading (or at least the majority of it) was from the Preamble to the Constitution and the Amendments, not the Declaration of Independence. Talk about superficiality and IGNORANCE. If you had any sense of dignity left, you should probably not speak again...ever.
