I saw the Beatles in 1965 in Chicago,Il at the International Amphitheater, now torn down.I remember when they came on stage. John was first, followed by George,Ringo,and Paul. The crowd cheered louder for John than the rest. In my opinion, John was the driving force behind the group. I believe millions of Beatle fans will agree.  God bless John, wherever he is.  Through the years, he inspired me through his music.  Thank you John Lennon and Happy Birthday, John.

this is respone to george’s comments. Why take the discussion in that direction. We know your smarter than everyone else because your an athiest. And of course, you never miss a chance to bring it up in a discussion. No one I know would compare Jesus to John Lennon, especially Lennon himself. Lennon was a great musician who did his best work within the confines of a group. His first 2 solo lps after the breakup of the Beatles were excellent albums. He went through an inconsistant period during the mid to late seventies, but released an excellent lp just before his murder. I think he had a lot of great music left in him, if he only had the chance. The person who killed Lennon robbed the world of, in my opinion, some excellent music to come.
It was such a shame, but to use this format to bash religion seems petty and misplaced anger.
