  Ok I read a few comments and can't believe how many people don't get the film. They're saying things like 'The kid needs help" and "The parents are bad" WOW who raised these viewers? No paranormal activity, just a kid who is making up excuses so he can sleep in his parents bed. Very cute. He's probably done it a lot. Plenty of others kids have done it through centuries. This was creative and a great moment to capture in someone's youth. Thumbs up!

  I there were people investigating the house to see if any paranomal activities were going on, then I could understand why a video like this would be on here..all I see is the parents filming this child's anxiety of a mean monster he keeps seeing. If this was my child I'd have him see someone professional to help him with his fear, and if that didn't help then get someone who deals with spirits to see if that's what the child is seeing, and finding a solution for getting rid of the entity. I would find a solution not film my child and his anxiety and do nothing about it. There should be limits to what you can film concerning children..which by the way did you see second child on top bunk bed..looked like a girl because had earing sleeping with no top on? In anyway this video should be taken off to discourage parents from videoing at a childs expense to get attention or to make money.

  I think the parents should look for some help, if not they should move out of that house. their kid is been suffering and attacked from some entities that we don't know and we can't see but some kids that have been attacked can see them. I'm telling you, I realy believe there are some entities from another dimentions that WE are NOT awere of it, if you can not handle it, just pray and get some help and realy help that kid.(the sweet monster is an angel trying to help him because if you can see there are two monsters)

  Cute, but not all kids go through this like one comment said. My Son didn't! When he wasn't ready for bed, he would just come to us & let us know he couldn't sleep. I think some kids make up that they see monsters to get the parents to feel sorry for them. I also think some of them are really scared when they hear the wind blowing things outside & the sounds of the house settling. I believe this little guy was scared. I'm glad they allowed him to leave the door open but sternly told him to stay in bed!!

  When I was a kid, if I bugged my parents as much as this kid, I would be more concerned with seeing stars than monsters. Even though my parents were always there for me when really needed but knew when I was being manipulative and just came up with crap for attention.

  Kathy, there is a night light in the room, lol... dad panned the camera right over it a couple of times...I wonder if you have any children? Truly frightened children behave quite differently from that :) I love the part where he did not want the dog to eat the bad monster because the monster is "sweet" lol...Tina, I am pretty sure that the language is Dutch...got a bit confused with what language was being spoken because I heard both Dutch and Spanish, mainly Dutch tho lol :)

  to the one that said beat his as and send him to bed.i bet you were the same way.your ol man was a beater to i bet.i hope some one beats the #### out of you. from personal experience children see and hear things us adults dont.take warning.there to young to make up this stuff.they have to actually see it.unless an adult is planting this in there mind..if so its not funny and therefore stop getting mad at the child.you did it.. my god whats wrong with you people..

  OH this was great! Kids will come up with anything to get what they want won't they? He wasn't scared he was trying to get out of sleeping alone. Soon it'll be 25 trips to the bathroom just so he doesn't have to go to bed. My son would come up with some doozies too. But my what an immagination!

  I grew up in a family of 7 little boys and 2 girls. We had fun sneaking under each others beds and shoving them up with a shout. and much other mischief. after playing or working all day we usually fell asleep without trouble. Thanks Omer

  For those who this think it's dumb or are appalled by this video are not parents. Wait til you get your own child and you'll know what it's like to go thru this. I have 9 nephews/nieces and one son of my own. They ALLLL go thru that. I did everything I could think possible to "kill" the monster for my son so he can sleep. I even gave him a plastic baseball bat to sleep with so he can "beat" the heck out of the monster, if it was bothering him. My son thought it was cool so he'll wake up in the morning and tell me stories of how he "killed" the monster with the bat. Then he got "bored" with that. I even had the nightlight on and it still doesnt work. Took a while to figure out that he just doesnt want to sleep. So, I got him to do a bedtime prayer in bed and told him to keep praying until he's tired of talking then he'll fall asleep that worked for a short time but at least I got my full night sleep for a while. He's almost 5 and still battling against sleeping. Watching this video makes me think of my moments with my son. Thanks for sharing.

  I agree with V my son also had sleep apnea caused by enlarged tonsils, this caused him to have night terrors starting at the age of 2, its NO JOKE! My son would never remember a thing when he would finally wake up but it was so horrifying to see and hear him screaming night after night and not know what its about or what he is going through, thankfully we could always wake him out of it within 10 minutes, and he would be fine and ready to go back to sleep.

  To all who have commented sayin that the parents are terrible for keeping their kid up and taping it all: Really? The fact that the man was taping it DID NOT keep the kid up, in fact, he appeared to be completely oblivious! The parents did a nice job here, and it was clever that the dad taped it. A lot of parents go through this on a regular basis, therefore the parents did nothing wrong! The father was simply taping himself attempting to calm his child down enough to get him to sleep, nothing more, and nothing less; stop blowing it out of proportion!

  The kid is experiencing an episode of paranoid schizophrenia. He "sees" a spider...a monster. No one is their right mind would think that a monster actually exists. The right anti-psychotics and he should live a normal life.

  I feel sorry for the family. My child used to cry the whole night and wake up saying that there is a bug in the bad. It was so draining for both me and my child. I found out that my child had tonsils problems that reduced air flow that caused sleep apnea and a lot of nightmares. My suggestion is that check for lack of oxygen if your child has too many nightmares’.

  awww the lill dude just didnt wanna go to bed.... y yall gotta be so mean? he was just tryin to weasel his way in to bed w mom n dad... if he was truly scared.... well he would been to scared to climb back in bed ev time w no fuss!!! n for the naked... my husband sleeps nakie... and my 12 yr old son sleep walks when he has a bad dream and he'll lay ontop of the covers for an hour or so till he realises where he is... so its all good. lill due wears diapers im sure it dont matter his mommy was nakie.

  Children need a regular bedtime AND a bedtime routine that helps them relax. Kids that get enough physical activity during the day -- but NOT just before bedtime -- have fewer problems going to sleep. TV & computer play in the evenings may be over-stimulating for some children, so you may need to restrict those activities for an hour or two before bedtime. A warm bath with a touch of lavendar oil in the water just before bedtime is relaxing.... as is a lavender sachet tucked into a pillow or stitched into a favorite sleepy toy. Also, reading to a child after tucking them in for the night is a good way to ease them off to sleep -- but no stories with monsters, pirates, creepy critters, etc. At age five or six, they can follow the stories in "chapter books" like the Bobbsey Twins series, The Secret Garden, Black Beauty, and other children's classics. Not only will reading to him or her help the child relax, it's shown to improve vocabulary and instill a lifelong love of reading -- and there are often little "life lessons" in childrens' literature. (Talk to the local librarian about stories appropriate for your child's age.) Warm milk can help induce sleepiness, and a teaspoon of honey added to the warm milk makes it "special." If the child wakes in the middle of the night as a result of bad dreams or nightmares, have some empathy. Do you not remember how awful that felt when you were a kid? If you really don't want the child in your bed, you have two choices -- you can lay down with him/her in their bed, or take the child to a couch or recliner until he/she falls back to sleep. My parents let me sleep with them when I had nightmares.... but if I wasn't truly terrified, they would gently crowd against me until I decided I could sleep better in my own bed. A night-light was a huge help as I was seriously afraid of the dark. Best of luck!

  You guys are idiots, this had NOTHING to do with the monster. He wanted to sleep with mommy and daddy and he understood that crying and telling them he was afraid would get their attention. First it was an animal, then a spider, then the spider wouldn't leave, then he told it to go away, then he was supposed to threaten it with the dog attack but now he WANTED the monster to stay and was upset it didn't have a bed to sleep in. ANY excuse to get what he wanted... which was to sleep in between his parents, instead of with his brother. IN the end he got it anyway. Just a normal tussle with a toddler over sleeping alone.

  Can really relate to this video. Have a 5 yr old boy, and a 4 yr old girl, both sleep with doors open and a light on and STILL - few times a week - are scared. Both end up in my bed. Glad I'm not the only one!

  What's wrong with having a night light? Also try a battery-operated, under-the-counter light that the child can put right in the bed close to him/her. This helps them feel "secure" and not afraid. After they have fallen asleep, go in and turn it off or just leave it on. Kids do get scared of the dark.

  You people that are stating comments about how the kid needs a night lite and then the kid won't be scared or have monsters just don't understand i guess. my 5 yr old sleeps with the bedroom light on and is always scared. by 4 am he is in my bed waking me up when i have to get up 2 hours later for work. yes all kids go through it whether a light is left on or not.

  I am really amazed and saddened by all of the negative comments about the parents and the rights and wrongs of the situation. This was an adorable video, it was meant to be entertaining and it very amusingly presents a common problem that most parents face at some point. Please get a sense of humor, at least so the rest of us don't have to suffer through your depressingly serious comments.

  The problem here lies with the parents. Teh child is at a stage in which it is difficult to distinguish between self-generated images and objective reality as we all know it. He simply needs a night light which will enable him to actually see the external objects so that he won't respond to subconscious images and he can distinguish between them and external. His complaint about the darkness should have been clear. He wants to be able to see more than darkness. Darkness prevents him from seeing clearly external objects and he confuses external reality with internal reality. He, therefore, "sees" what he fears.

  I am 61 years old and there was a monster in my bedroom called the boogie man. Later I found out that his real name was "not wanting to go to bed and using every excuse not to". My father chased the monster away be telling me to lie still and close my eyes. It worked as it has worked for countless others. This is a normal kid in a normal situation; there are no spirits demons or aliens just a kid trying to find a way not to go to bed. Chill people.

  OMG! u people who are making it out to be more than it is STOP! Not everone is the same. What worked for your child MAY AND PROBABLY WONT WORK for someone elses. I thought it was adorable. some of you are so cold hearted and oblivious.   I think this was adorable. Cute little boy and parents that are so patient is nice to see! Some parents should watch this video and take a lesson from it. I've seen parents yell at thier babies for waking them up so much. Bad parents be ware there are good parents out there! Like this dad! Waste of 10 minutes but maybe someone will take a different parenting approach by watching it. Patience is a virtue.

  For those of you who are appalled you probably shouldn't have children. For the poster who said the parents were selfish to bring children into this world you are a dumb ###. I guess that makes me a very selfish person b/c I have 1 child whom I adore with all my heart and am trying to have another. ALL kids go through this. My 2 yr old wakes up every night at 3am wanting to sleep in bed with his daddy. We simply take him back to his room rock him for a few minutes in the rocking chair, tuck him back in, give him his lovey, turn on his sea turtle and his music, then hug & kiss him. Some nights we have to go through this 2 or 3 times. It's typical behavior. I think the parents handled it well. Telling a child there is no monster is not going to make them any less scared of them. Doing something to make them either stand up to the fear or make them think that you have magicked it away with some kind of repellent spray is a good way to bring them a feeling of security.

  lol I use to be afraid of the dark when I was his age and my mom made me sit in the kitchen by my self with the lights off for ten minutes so i had proof nothing was going to try to eat me. I freaked the hell out of me but I wasn't afraid anymore after that because nothing ended up eating me. good time. lol

  Seriously people, take the clip for what it is. If you objected to it you could have turned it off after the first minute or whatever. I think this guy just wanted to share one of his "not-so-fun parenting moments" with others, much like most other parents I know do! There's enough comments on here that suggest that others have suffered" through nights like this as well. Its part of parenting, yes. But instead of so many people judging this guy, how about we just give him a consoling pat on the back along with a chuckle as any parent has likely been in some type of situation like this before?! I have yet to meet the "perfect" parent, and parents would do well to focus on more important issues in parenting (like REAL child abuse and such) instead of trying to tear each other apart. What works for one family/kid/etc. doesn't always work with others. Live and let live, I say... as well as a "thank you" to the Dad for making me smile and feel connected to other parents who have to find ways to make it through it all!

  I thought this was cute. Just typical behavior. All kids go through it I think. It looks like he just wants to get in bed with his parents because he has a sibling in the room, he's not alone. It just brought back memories for me. I remember when my daughter was little, I had to check the closets, under the bed and everywhere for monsters. She would crawl into my bed when I fell asleep.

  this is not child abuse or wrong....i have children and i don't find this wrong, sometimes children will tell you anything, looks like he just wanted in bed with mom and dad....nothing wrong, he did not look truly frightened, if he was crying and screaming that would be a different story.

  Wow. I think first of all, the parents did a good job at believing the monster was there and helping the child figure out ways to make the monster go away. But telling the child to stop bothering them is wrong. The child is scared, and they need your help to figure out what is wrong. Maybe try buying the child a nightlight or try sleeping with the child to help him feel secure. He's still in diapers, so he's still little. :)

  Really? I thought this was very wrong. Why would you incourage your child to think there is really a monster in there room? All this tell the monster this and that. Not amusing at all. I love my children, but this is no game to scare the day lights out of them. Tell them there is no monsters check there room with them, say your prayer, lay with them for comfort if need be and send them to bed with sweet dreams.

  We used "Monster Repellent". We also had night lights for our little ones. The "Monster Repellent" solved the problem always. Any type of room spray will do.

  In the end he got what he needed most which was the security of his parents. People who believe that letting a kid sleep with you will spoil him or ruin him are just plain wrong. They soon outgrow their fears and sleep all alone just fine. My three children are fully grown, well adjusted individuals who slept with us regularly when they were little. Parents should do whatever will get everyone a good night's sleep. That extra time sleeping together was actually comforting to all of us since we love our kids so much. My husband used to say to me, "People who don't sleep with their kids don't know what they're missing."

  It will b nice to look back on these vids when the kids r older. But I would never go along with my child thinking their are really monsters. I would think it would make it worse. I try to comfort my kids and convince them that thier is no monsters. I think making up stories to help keep the monsters away would feed the fear and make things worse, ya think?

  No wonder this world is so screwed up. Look at all the people giving their advice to a video (a video that isn't asking for advice). We have: - demands they get him a nightlight - demands they coddle his otherwise normal behavior - normal attention seeking made out to be "manipulation" - declarations of the paranormal - suggestions of using spray bottles on the "monsters" - misguided people expecting prayer to work - name calling of the parents - lazy parenting advice ("just give him what he wants") - unsolicited advice galore And only every once in a while, a person reacts to this video for what it's supposed to be: A normal night in a western family's good-natured household. Not enough people from the latter group, and far too many whackjobs from the first group. That's why this world is going crazy, because look at all the crazy producing kids.

  i have small children and i have explained to my daughter since she was 2 that monsters are not real and answered her questions about why they are on tv etc. she is now 5 and has not had a problem with this because she knows. my 2 year old is fine too. the parents need to explain this on his level and stop playing along with his ways to get out of bed

  He could be having a mild night terror. He looks awake and is talking to you but seeing things that aren't there and being scared that they'll get them are signs of it. It can be triggered by the body having to pee or being hot. Walk him to the bathroom - let him do his business and get him back in bed. Talk to him calmly, don't feed into it. Say it isn't real and Mommy/Daddy are here for you. If he feels he is being chased or flails around don't grab him or hug him - you have then becomes what is casing him and he's been caught. I have 2 boys who have gone through this much more severe - count yourself lucky. He'll grow out of it.

  My little one had these experiences also. I credit the parents for not telling him "It's just your imagination!" I would not ever do that as seeing is very common for young children. In our family it continues, sometimes past childhood. So we would play music so she couldn't hear them. At the age of 8 she woke me up telling me my old boyfriend was there. Since he past a few months before, she could have been imagining. She went on to describe him, and as she had never seen him, she was spot on. Over the next 7 months she would often see him. Repeat poems he was telling her, jokes to repeat to me. Or things to tease me about from my time with him. A few months after I started volunteering with cancer and hospice patients. She would wake me, saying Mrs.______is here she wants to thank you and tell you she is on her way. She got pretty tired of that.Some things she saw were good and some not so good. She's 25 now and has never wanted anyone to know of her abilities. Except for those like her, and teachers that have helped her understand how this "seeing" works She does use her ability as a medical intuitive. Comes in handy when you don't know whats wrong, helps with little children, and especially pets! A friends daughter is now going through it! A few months after her mother past, her youngest son started being resistent to take his bath before bed. So after several weeks of this. She asked him if there was a problem. He said he didn't like going in there anymore, because his grandma would be in the bathroom, and he didn't like it.We resolved that,with a few things we've learned. Now he's back to taking his bath with no problem. For most it ends by puberty. If ridiculed they just don't talk about it. Doesn't mean it stops. I've found in a few that a head injury will open it up. Just because mom & dad can't see it, doesn't mean it isn't terrifying!

  For those of you who are making such a big deal out of this little boy who is growing up better grow up yourselfs.And as far as the parents sharing this with everyone is GREAT for other kids who believe in monsters. Great job to the parents for having such patience and good humor for this child.

  This is NOT about "MONSTERS" - this is about manipulation. You can tell that there's no real fear in the child's voice. I've been caring for children/babies for over 50 years and I've seen this sort of thing many times. This is about the attention he is continually getting from his parents. If they wish it to continue - then continue to give in to him and search for the monsters and loose sleep every night. If there was sincere FEAR in the child's voice or actions I would deal with it differently, but this is manipulation by the child - plain and simple. He's a darling little boy, but if his parents don't start doing something pro-active to stop this behavior, it will continue in one form or another. Yes, they are very patient - TOO PATIENT. But, the choice remains theirs - allow your child to keep doing this for the next few years, or put a stop to it now - it's as easy as that. There is a way to be firm yet loving with a child like this. He's NOT seeing or dreaming anything, he just wants his Dad to keep coming into his room and that's just what he's getting!!! They learn very early what buttons to push - if what the child is doing didn't get the desired reaction - HE WOULDN'T DO IT.

  When I was little, I had a recurring dream of the Jolly Green Giant, like the one on commercials, It said "HO,HO, HO", There he was on the wall. I would scream every night. My big brother would come in, turn on the lights, and the giant was gone. After several days/weeks of this, my brothers bought me a poster, nightlight butterfly poster (1965), with a "Magic fishing weight". An old man on the pier gave it to them, to help ward off all evil giants. They hung up the poster on the wall where the shadows haunted me, and they hung up the magic weight after they told be this wonderful story. IT WORKED!! Little sis finally gave the family some rest. I finally framed the poster - still have that after 40 years. I don't know what happened to my magic weight. It worked magically!!

  To treat this little boy like this, it’s wrong. Little do they know this boy will grow up knowing that the parent left him alone when he most needed their protection. Please remember this is a child that needs guidance and understanding while they are learning and experiencing new things. He might end up losing the trust in the parent to protect him from the dark side of life or during hard time.

  we used glade cinnamon spray. told daughter that it was magic spray that kept her safe, and monsters hated the smell and stayed FAR away. worked great most nights! also, gave her a flashlight under her pillow. Good sleepin!

  The boy is experiencing a dream from a past life. He is very fearful of spiders..he probably was bitten by a black widow in a past life which killed him. Try putting a doll or some object in the room and tell him it wards off all spiders and will not let them enter his room anymore. Later when he is older..explain to him he was remembering a past life experience.

  I am amazed at how many people are so upset with the video. I didn't like it when I was awakened in the middle of the night either, but now I,too, remember the sweet little voice calling out in the night. For those comments referring to Davide sleeping alone, watch the video again. He is sleeping in the bottom bunk-- there is an older sibling in the room with him. Every child goes through this and it will eventually become a funny family memory. Great job of co-parenting and loving their child!

  Poor little gut... Poor parents! I suspect that a night light wiuld bring a halt to this business quickly. What is he, 3? His reasoning is begining to work, but in the dark anything he can see at all takes on enormus charateristics. To say nothing of lonliness. All day long Mom, Dad, nanny, day care, lots of people. Now he's alone, and in the dark! Imaginations can become very active ubder those conditions,l and frightening as well, although he did not appear to be very scared.

  First off, the dang dog barking may have awakened Davide. The pet needs to go. Next, the parents both should have given attention to the boy's needs, hugging and asking if the dog barking woke him or he awakened the dog by fussing about a monster. They then could comfort him by saying why the dog barked. From there they could instill some inner strength to Davide either by asserting Davide's developing belief in self-ability and confidence to battle fear or reassure him that the gift of a higher power will protect and insure his safekeeping. The mother is laying there admitting she is dang-blasted naked while the dad deals with Davide. Gosh, I hope she got her lazy azz out of the bed and dressed before Davide entered it, (where he should be until they are all mature enough to handle the communication and other issues). The filming of this entire situation attests to the apparent fact that they all watch too much dang TV and thrive on the drama. And please...Spend some time with the blessing (instead of feeding the dog and taking it out for duty)--Get the kid potty-trained already!

  As a parent with a toddler around the same age as Davide, I found this so sweet and funny! (My son use to think his shadow was a lion in his wall.) The parents did an amazing job of acknowledging his fears without exacerbating them. They were sweet, loving and patient, and as someone else said, it always ends the same way-your child ends up in your bed a 1/2 hour before your alarm is set to go off!

  It's funny the numbers of people saying they should get the boy a night-light. And some people aren't just saying it, they are screaming it as if the father was abusing this normal kid. Well what did people do before night-light days? And seriously, all a night light does is confirm to the kid that something is there to be afraid of. The parents in this video seem to be perfectly good people who took care of the situation just fine: they didn't make the "monster" a big deal; the dad took the boy back to the room and looked for the monster (teaching the boy how to think rationally); and they didn't berate him or (worse) do the lazy thing and just let the boy come to bed with them immediately. And why do parents always see these benign situations as opportunities to give advice? This video isn't, "OMG, Give Me Parenting Advice!" It's just a sweet video of a night in the De Stefanis Family house. Take your own advice and "lighten up". lol

  I really think this was a cute little movie. It is something that they can laugh about for years to come, especially when Davide gets older, marries, and have his own kids. Everyone handles things differently and I believe that his parents did a great job of handling the situation. My grandfather's was of dealing with the monsters under the bed was to watch an even scarier movie. I also know some parents who would have been so nice about the situation. GOOD JOB, parents of Davide. :-)

  While I expect everyone to believe what they want, I am prompted to tell you that as children, most all children are highly sensitive to everything that is around us. Some is self manifesting illusion but some is actual and real, as we are all surrounded by a world and universe full of life and creatures that exist in diminsions/frequencies that we can not see but that share the same space. I wonder is any get this concept or beliecve me when I say it is possibe that the boy's nightmares are real interpretations of what he is seeing and feeling in his room.

  The mind of a child is impressionable and absorb lots of information. I wonder if this child was watching some scary movie or some movie like "Monsters Inc." I would probably get a night light for him. Read a funny book like Dr. Seuss "Green Eggs and Ham" and he'll dream about that funny story. I remember my nightmare it was "Numbers" I blurted out when my brother woke me up. "Numbers" was when he was teaching me about numbers a few hours ago. My nephew he was sleep walking but i guided him back to bed.

  the child probably just wanted attention from his parents. that's why he kept going to them. and may be for some reason he was a little scared about sleeping in his room that night. he seems a perfectly normal child. and as for those suggesting the parents get him a tv - WHAT?! the child has to learn to sleep by him self. getting him a tv would not be a good idea. that would not help him learn the art of self comforting, which is important if a child is to learn to sleep alone. as for those suggesting he really was seeing things - i highly doubt it. may be kids can see that which is invisible to most, but again - HIGHLY unlikely. he just wanted to know that his parents were there for him. he was sort of testing them, with out under standing this is what he was doing. this is normal behavior. ask any child psychologist, and get these other ridiculous notions out of your heads, folks. if he really was seeing other worldly nether beings, i would think he would have been REALLY scared. he was just seeking attention, and confirming to him self that his parents cared. that is what children do.

I had to especially giggle when the parents giggled, because you know they were thinking this whole thing was just too cute, too, no matter what language. As a side note, I find it interesting that someone said there were many options other than what the father did (spending time with the kid figuring out the situation rationally). She suggested praying was a better option. All praying is is an ironic extension of the human mind's ability to see "monsters" and then coddle them as adults. Yes, let's pray to imaginary spirits about imaginary monsters. Yeah... THAT'll cure 'im! LOL

  Sweet little boy but can't the parents see that he's running the whole show? I would make a big production of playing a non-ending loop of classical music and show him made up articles about how this music makes all bad things leave the house. Then just hold out. No matter what. His cry is not one of distress as much as it is "I want your attention." His sleep pattern is now out of whack and needs to be adjusted to match the parents sleep times. Discussing the whole monster subject is not doing anything but getting more time with the parents. Try what I've suggested.

  First of all if the child is so scared by himself at nite you should think about getting a few nitelights. Secondly, as another person has mentioned below so many children do see paranormal activity. Be open to the that fact and gently talk him through what he is seeing. And he continues to be so scared all the time than maybe it would be best to let him sleep in your room.

  I enjoyed this film for what it was. It was very sweet. U cannot feed into the fear but show by example the monsters are under "your" control (as in a figment of your own imagination). I laughed and remembered my own children and how I used a spray bottle with water and lavender leaf as monster deterrent. Very sweet. It is what it is. A cute film with cute effects.

  A lot of people don't realize that sometimes their kids really are seeing something and it's not just a nightmare or the child's imagination playing tricks with them. Young children and teenagers are more open to the paranormal and often start having experiences at an early age. Sometimes it is their imagination,sometimes it is paranormal activity, and sometimes,unfortunately, it is mental illness or the after effects of some kind of trauma. Whatever the case may be, don't just laugh it off if it becomes persistent.Don't scare the child more with your concerns but do monitor their overall behavior.

I thought it captured, perfectly, the persistence of the a little child that is absolutely sure that the monster exists, a child's compassion, the parent's patience and even the sibling's ignoring of the comings and goings. It was right on the money. Also, nice ending, because that's how these adventures always end, with baby secure in the love of parents. Kudos!!

  Sraulla I agree with you, My children even think that something is in our house, even my 13 year old think something is in her room. She runs to her bed, and hides under the blankets. It is weird, her TV turns on by itself alot, more than twice a night. I think kids are more open to, ell, spirits. My 13 year old when she was seven, described aman in her room to me, and I could have sworn, she was talking about my father in law who died 9 years before she was born. She described him perfectly. I just don't understand.

  First of all, some say its funny or cute. I think the only cute part was when he said it was a sweet monster and I found nothing to laugh about. There are children no matter at what age they are, they see spirits. At my guess this poor child was seeing a ghost or some kind of spirit cause he said that the monster had a broken head. The father had to stay with the child till he fell asleep, prayed and even leave the door opened. Prehaps even a nite light. I know cause I have been there personally. The father was not thinking about the child.

  cute video , Dad was so patient , as a Mom of 4 sometimes it is a guessing game to see what they want , sometimes all the nightlights and open doors just don't work, Just let them sleep in bed with you when they are young when they need the extra comfort.Kids grow up so fast and I have never regreted any time I gave in and let them crawl into bed,soon kids grow and seem to no longer need you, also we had one of our sons pass away at a young age.I say savor every moment becaus you can't get them back.

I would turn on the light and tell him to take a good look around the room and see if anything scares him and tell him there's nothing in there in the dark that isn't in there in the light. Leave a night light on and the door open and make it clear that you won't put up with this. Go to sleep or else.

  I've never had to deal with this with my children but when I babysat in high school I "got rid of the monsters for good" according to 7 yr old Samantha. It's called monster spray and it's not that hard to get your hands on. (Take an empty spritz bottle, fill it with water, and slap a cute Monster Eater label on it)

  What I used to do with my kids, I would take a can of air freshner, cover the can in white paper so you can't see what the can is. And we would spray it in the room lightly (light scent) and call it "bad drems be gone" or "monsters be gone" one spray and they were convinced they were gone.

  @mommakat.. why would you suggest medication and an evaluation for?? that would be just ignorance, he's a normal little boy who, most likely doesn't want to sleep in his bed, dad kissed him good night and reassured him several times. he did the right thing. in the end the boy did get what he wanted"to sleep with his parents". my son did this for almost year. its just a habit that needs to be broken and eventually he'll be sleeping in his own bed in no time.GOOD JOB MOM AND DAD. AND AS FOR YOU MOMMAKAT, YOU MIGHT BE THE ONE WHO NEEDS AN EVALUATION AND SOME MEDS!

  There's nothing paranormal in his room at night because he keeps making excuses for the "monster" first it's a bad one and then it's a sweet one and it doesn't have a bed etc. I have had four kids and I can see this kid isn't sleepy yet for one thing. They need to be active enough during the day so when night time comes they are tired and can go to sleep. Also sometimes they want attention. Maybe they don't get much attention during the day because their parents are busy working or whatever, so when everyone is home and settled and not busy that's when the attention comes in and if it's at bedtime that's a problem. They need to make sure the kid is active during the day and then in the evening spend some time playing with him and giving him attention and then make it clear that it's bedtime now and everyone has to go to sleep and enforce it. If he is too stubborn or acts like a brat then they need to be firm and tell him they won't put up with this and he will get a slap on the behind if he doesn't cut it out and then follow through if needed. Kids have to learn they have rules that need to be followed the same as adults. They are special in our hearts but not when it comes to following the rules of behavior.

  Yes, this is a subject most parents have to face at one point in their child's developmental years, but what I believe the short film was trying to convey was that the child was afraid of his own toys on the shelf and not an actual spirit. Thus, the title "Sweet Monster." :)

  Demons? Please, this kid is being a kid. If there were demons then why did he say they were sweet? He was manipulating his parents and I have to say they handled it with patience and love. Of cource they were giving in to him, they know their child better than we do. If they would have yelled at him and told him not to come back out that would have sent a message to the kid that his parents didn't care about his concerns. By the parents being rational and calm it made the situation bareable. This behavior is simply a phase and I applaud the way the parents handled it.

  They should allow the child to keep the door open and have a night light. They should be concerned too that there may be a spirit not at rest in their home and get it checked out. Once all obstacles are removed "monsters, real or pretend" then they can assure the child of his safety. Children are more susceptible to the paranormal and their complaints should not be taken lightly.

  This dad must be a total idiot. This little guy is afraid to go to sleep in the dark, and secondly. he just wants the door left open so he won't feel he's alone. You can feel that right from the start. Dad slams the door shut after each episode, and any dummy can see that's what is causing the little guy's anxiety. LEAVE A SMALL LIGHT ON AND LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN. AND HOW ABOUT A HUG??

  I strongly blieve there is a world we can't see and others can. My brother started to see evil things when he was going into the priest hood They thought he was insane and gave him schock treatmenst but I blieved him. I use to have odd feeligns trying to take over my thoughts and I was never on drugs or anything I felt they could not get me so they went to him. I was strong and fought them off and I told my family too and they laughed at me My freinds thought I was frightening and did not bother with me that much. I kept saying your not real and leave me alone. Then I would do anything to get my mind off them. About a few weeks of not being bothered by them my brother started the same feelings I had. He is now home at the age of 60 years old and never was able to hold a job down due to all the medication they gave him over the years. Now the doctors say he was miss diagnosised and that he was never mentally ill he had seizures from the medations that made him appear to be more sickly. I would really check into this further with someone in your area that may be able to relate to it. Maybe a preist can direct you to someonne. Or look into spiritual physic. God Bles you all if this does not stop do something about it. xoxo

  I would not totally rule out that a spirit could possibly be taunting the child and keeping him awake. For over a year in sixth grade I was exhausted and had nightmares I could not awaken easily from that put so much anxiety in me for sleeping. Also- I saw and felt the presence of something holding me down so I learned that wicked spirits can affect people and its important to learn to use Gods name found at Psalms 83:18 to scare them away for good.

  When the boy said he didn't want the dog to eat the monster because he finds him sweet, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so I did both. How sweet is he?!? I have a hunch this was a nightly ritual since dad had the camera ready. The patient parents are lovely and an example to us all. And I love Dutch, so hearing it first thing this morning from such a lovely family put me in a great mood. Bringing a child into a parents' bed is not bad for a chld. Think about it. How many children past the age of 10 want to sleep with their parents? And how many grown ups still sleep with a parent who allowed them to sleep with them as a child?

  Very sweet. The parents took a chance by exposing their child to mean comments of some bored people who probably would prefer to spend their precious "ten minutes" on other type of less innocent viewing. Beautiful if you adults can keep your minds childlike pure. And, please no psychological analyzing! See it as it is, very sweet and thank you for the lesson on parental love and patience. All children go through this phase. This is called growing.

  I find it hard to understand when persons share an idea with others why they can't keep the cruelty out of their opinion. I like the monstor spray idea. Each night say a protective prayer with Davide and spray water out of a spray bottle. call it. Monstors can not come in. Sooner or later he will believe it and calm down. Good luck!

  I loved it! My children were laughing, and saying "We had that before" so it's a common fact that parents have to endure, and I love the old school film twist put on it by the father. I really found it adorable, not boring, I wish that people wouldn't always be so negative. It's sweet, and the parents were patient and kind, and I love that about this piece. I also found the child's singing to be absolutely sweet, and adorable! I'm very happy that they shared this with us! Thank you!

  Dad could've sat on the edge of the bed and talked with Davide a bit, tousled his hair, eased his fears, given him a hug, then left a little light on and slipped out of the room. Never once did Dad hug his son or even touch him. Maybe that's all Davide wanted -- a little bit of love.

He needs a doctor's evaluation and maybe meds, but at age 3, he's quite the manipulator. Thank God he wasn't sleep walking...that is a horrid time to go through with a child.   My 6 year olds loved this - the beautiful languages, and they could tell that he was singing twinkle, twinkle. He does have a great voice. Very sweet - sometimes you have to laugh as a parent so that you won't cry! I loved it. But these parents are much more patient than I would have been!

  I don't understand the parents. If my child was this afraid or woke up this many times, I would let him or her sleep with me for a while till they got over this monster, at least for that night. This child is apparently very young and afraid. It would be easier for the parents and the child if they would let him sleep with them whenever he would wake up scared from the monster.

  For the people who say Davide is being "abused", I would appreciate it if you to point out at what part is the "abuse" happening? Is it when the parents gently speak to their child instead of yelling at him to get his F!%$ing a$$ in bed, like abusers do? Or is it when the father goes to investigate with him and again, calmly shows him there is nothing there instead of grabbing him by the arm and shoving him in bed like true abusers do? Or is it when he ends up in bed with mum & dad at the end instead of locked in a closet like disgusting abusers do? Which part, really...please enlighten us with your ignorance, then go volunteer for children who are REALLY being abused. You'll see the difference. All this is, is a sweet film of a father trying to capture the innocence and NORMAL part of a child's life for future enjoyment. I commend the parents on how they handled little Davide. This phase of his life will only last a short while, and before you know it, he will be grown with little Davide's of his own. Enjoy it while you can. God Bless

  This was a great little flim. My husband and I laughed while watching it and it made us think of our own monster battles that we have had with our own children. Very cute, and I wish David luck with his sweet monsters. Maybe next David could offer the monster a midnight snack and then they could read a book together in bed and become good friends. Then next time another monster comes along, his sweet monster could protect him.

  Cute kid, nice enough parents, but not really worth 10 minutes of my time. The parents are certainly not abusive/rotten parents, but it wasn't really worth my time to sit and watch them use generally ineffective strategies. I don't really feel sorry for them, because they are feeding into it. That's their choice. Some folks want to sleep, some folks want to video tape how they let their kid keep them from sleeping. I wonder how long this has/will go on. E-mail SuperNanny and truly problem-solve when you get totally exhausted.

My kids were never scared of monsters in their bedroom but it must be very straining for the parent night after night if your child says their is a monster in their bedroom. The parents remained very calm and went along with their child which probably let him finally go to sleep.

  Got to love the story for what it is. Reminds me of the many times I got up to go rid my daughters room of big scary monsters. A childs imagination at this age is vivid and to them the monsters can be very real. But once they have the security of mom or dad it's amazing how they disappear. I finally resolved the problem by arming my daughter with a flash light. I told her that monsters hated a flashlight and would disappear if she shone the light on where they were at. It worked like a charm. Getting a good nights sleep was well worth the cost of the batteries over the few months she needed the extra security. Good luck to all the parents facing similar dilemas with their child.

  I loved this video, I am about to become a first time grandma to a grandson and cant wait for the times he is afraid of anything and we assist in making him feel better. I loved the way the parents stayed calm during the entire event and it shows to be calm with the little ones is the best and not to just yell go back to bed..love that dad would even think to video this to show him when he is older how silly he was!!! Great video!

I had to reload five times before I finally actually got to see the video. And Ed, yes, there is a God and all, but children have nightmares all the time. It's not "inviting spirits in." It's just part of childhood. I bet you thought you had a monster in your room as a child.   A simple night light and leaving his door open will probably alleviate his fears substantially. No criticism is intended here, but children his age are a little young yet for that degree of isolation. As time goes by it becomes more appropriate to wean children from their dependence...actually, nature kind of does that for us. Wait til Davide becomes a teenager...lol. But for now a low light and open door should do the trick. Think back. There is nothing scarier than the dark.

  Wow, some people are taking this WAY too far. Saying he should be removed from the home because they are 'abusing' him? As a kindergarten teacher, I know ALL of the tricks and this little man clearly just wanted an invite into Mom and Dad's bed.lol. He doesn't seem terrified, just sleepy and whiny like all kids get when they wake up numerous times a night. His parents were SOOOO patient and I loved mom's suggestion that he tell the monster the dog would bite him in the butt. They were trying to make him laugh and ease his mind, I say bravo to them! I knew the little guy would end up between Mom and Dad by the end of this but it was still cute to see him sleeping there contentedly. What a cutie!

  Seems this little boy is very sensitive to spirits as most children are and they see them clearly. For a child, this is very frustrating that their parents are not taking them seriously. Try a night light in their room and keep their bedroom door open. Spirits are very frightening to children. Please listen to them and don't make fun of them. Some adults see and hear spirits and become frightened too so how do you expect a child to be different?

  I really enjoyed this homemade film about a young boy who is afraid of the dark. He "sees" monsters and I assume this has happened numerous times, since his parents decide to make a video of the "nightly event." I was thrilled to think that Davide's family created this video to show....how little Davide was "cured" of his fear of the dark. The video "spoke" to me this way until....the final frame when I saw Davide in bed with his father. This was quite a letdown for me. But, perhaps, this video was created.."just for fun." I thought...initailly..it was created to show how Davide's family cured Davide of his fear of the dark. Anyway...it was cute. I enjoyed the video. Please create more videos.

  Does this happen every night? Does he ever get a full nights sleep? This needs to be checked by a sleep specialist and is very serious..he is not reaching deep sleep and may be seeing things that are not there do to sleep deprivation. Please please have this checked out by a professional..it could be many things physicalogical..also leave his door open and a night light on for him..maybe sleep in the room with him on a air matteress for a few nights until he feels safe..this is not a funny thing it is very real for him..good luck and God Bless...

  What a fabulous film! My own children are far past this stage, but I'm sure every parent recognizes this scene. What lovely parents Davide has, such patience and humor. It is no wonder he continues to wake up to play such an exciting game with his father! That Davide's mother and father continue to giggle at Davide's antics is a testament to their loving and calm dispositions. Davide is a lucky boy! Very clever and funny film. Thank you for sharing.   Loved this! Besides the great job you did on the finished product with the editing, music and scary toy visuals, the way you and your wife handled your sons fears was very heartwarming. You alleviated his fears without belittling him. What a wonderful thing to share with other parents! Awesome!
