  I have to say that the people who fall in the category of "Macheads" often do not even realize that Apple has stolen many ideas that they try to call their own. For example they stole the music management interface that is still used in the Ipod classic models and previous models. Don't get me wrong I feel that Apple makes good products like the Iphone but I just think that they are over priced and that they are not as creative as people think. Today it appears that they just make electronics for those who do not really know how to use them or for those who do not care about speed or how old the technology is.

  This is exactly the type of "individualistic" group think that someone like Edward Bernays would cook up. What's funny is you only see fringe lunatics in this video. People who are clueless that they're being manipulated by a brand. Mac profits without any regard for the waste that comes off the tail end of the consumption cycle for their products. They are a major polluter of the planet. If Mac had to factor in the real costs including disposal, or had any social conscience, they wouldn't be walking away pockets full without taking any responsibility for their actions. Yet, people paint them exactly opposite of this. The Mac hipsters seem to disregard this part of their business model completely. Mac also has a terrible track record for working conditions of the people who produce their goods. Someone somewhere is suffering under extreme hardship for the ipad to meet such a low price point. Recently, Apple only raised wages slightly after a large number of suicides in it's workforce and the negative publicity about it's slave labor operations with Foxconn. Seeing people swept up in such a mindless enthusiasm for a consumer product would be funny if it weren't so sad. All of these so called different thinkers just bought into the marketing that they're "different". Just because Apple was rich enough to buy the images of true thinkers, it will never make Steve Jobs an Einstein or Lennon. He will be a footnote in history as a clever marketer, consumer stylist, kidney theif, and a cruel industrialist who was responsible for the suffering and death of thousands of people. More of a Barnum than a Darwin when the glitter wears off.

  Has anyone read the book "A Brave New World", it portraits a world in which everyone is happy and everything is perfect... so it seems... I feel that Apple is totalitarian Don't get me wrong, mac products are great products, they can be as good as other products. THE key element about Apple and Mac OS is packaging. They make sure that it is beautiful and that the design is pretty... Now lets talk about the real issues! To me a computer is a silicon chip, based on a particular architecture, everything else is just features. And, eversince Mac decided to drop the RISC architecture they had with PowerPC to go with Intell's CISC, well it's become the same computer that I can buy directly from Intell without rebranding/packaging fees! Packaging and features that Mac has to offer is good. It probably suits 90% of the population. But on the other hand, they barely chose what they wanted. For instance, I chose a Asus Mother Board with RAID controller, Raptor 10Krpm HDDs, 4Gb of Kingston RAM, Toshiba 24 inch Display, Logitek Mouse and Keyboard, Antec Silent Chassis, etc. With my clone, I have the ability to freely choose (and change afterwards) each and every part of my machine. Finally let's talk about the OS, I know about Linux', MS's, and Mac's OSs and all have their advantages and disadvantages. MacHeads would say Mac OS is nicer to look at and interact with (again with the beauty argument :S ) and they are probably right I can give them this, although win7 is pretty nice... BUT on my clone, I can run ANY of the OS I want, I can easily have more than one installed if I like, even Mac OS ! HAHA ! (You have to have the right hardware though, because guess what the Mac OS drivers do not all exist). Now for you Mac OS fiends, open your iMac chassis (Yes you can do this, but it voids your warranty (Yet again HAHA!)), go buy the exact same components that you can find inside and a chassis and KVM of your choice. Then build it and install Mac OS. You will have the same Mac with the exact same performance and features for half the price. The only reason you would want to buy a Mac is if you can't stand rectangular shapes and you really enjoy the round chassis of an iMac. It is the only reason, the packaging... I hope to convince that I am not against Mac at all, just against getting ripped off! I run Mac OS on a clone, #### my balls Steve!

  Now that's just horrible. I hope these people won't go out on the streets and start sacrificing Windows and GNU/Linux users in the name of their lord and savior Steve Jobs. While as a GNU/Linux & Windows user I don't really care if someone uses OS X, they religiously defend the honor of a company that shamelessly exploits their stupidity. Thank god Macs will never get a significant market share and real operating systems will continue to shine in their full glory while OS X is reserved for the crazy people, hippies and hipsters at Starbucks. Macs being an actual competitor in the operating system wars would be the death to real computing & gaming and the path to slavery instead of freedom. Steve Ballmer said in a recent interview http://www.osnews.com/story/21035/Ballmer_Linux_Bigger_Competitor_than_Apple that Linux is actually a bigger threat to Windows since it already conquered the server market and continues to grow on desktops. Linux is starting to get more user-friendly while still actually being useful. Now my question to the Mac users who religiously follow a company is: How do you justify paying more for less? Because there seems to be none. There is no reason to choose OS X over Windows or a GNU/Linux distribution. Everything OS X can do, Windows or a GNU/Linux distro can do better. The thousands of things Windows or GNU/Linux distributions can do, macs can't. I have a huge problem with Apple's business philosophy. It basically goes like this: 1. Buy cheap, outdated and inferior FOXCONN hardware from Chinese sweatshops 2. Put in shiny aluminum case that is colored in soft colors 3. Apply crippled UNIX OS that barely has 5% market share, is incompatible with 95% of today's software, runs 2003's graphics drivers, lacks the most simple of tasks and can't do any real work 4. Sell for 200% of actual price 5. Lie to and manipulate people who don't know much about technology into thinking that it's superior 6. Frequently use words like "magic", "revolutionary" and "beautiful" PCs for people with common sense: 1. Order each component cheap from reputable websites 2. Build the computer yourself so it matches all your wishes 3. Have computer 3 times better than prebuilt Apple crap and it's still cheaper 3. Apply Windows or a GNU/Linux distribution 4. Enjoy life with the peak of human home-technology, play games, enjoy software, configure everything to your needs, tweak your hard- & software and most importantly - seize the freedom

  It really amuses me how vehemently mac users try to put down PC users in arguments instead of justifying their piece of equipment. For a moment, to avoid hypocrisy, allow me to justify my use of a PC. 1. It is customizable. I built my PC to my specifications. I didn't have to buy it pre-made. This is a universal concept. For example, if you worked with music, you may want to build your PC with a good sound card. 2. I can repair it myself. If a part of my PC ever breaks down, I can open it up, find the problem, and fix it. Simple as that. I don't have to take it down to the apple store to get it shipped away for 6-8 weeks for apple to charge me 200$ for something I could fix for my PC for 50$. 3. It is upgradeable. When I see a processor in the store that renders my current one obsolete, I can just buy it and place it into my computer the same day. I don't have to wait for the next mac to come out for Steve Jobs to tell me what I want. I want what I want, not what other people tell me to want. So mac users, you can go sit at your desks with your minumum-performance apple product, While I sit at my desk with my custom-built, High performance PC. No skin off of my nose.

  This is a documentary focussing on the community of Macintosh computer users, and to a lesser extent on "the cult of Macintosh". Like most documentaries, this one is made up mostly of talking heads, but it is edited as a sequence of fast cuts, so each talking head gets only a sentence or two before another comes on, or we cut to a throng of Mac fans. These sound bites are very skillfully woven together to present a smooth narrative; in fact it is probably smoother than if we had stuck with each talking head for a longer period. A few of the interviewees get (and deserve) longer segments. Musician Galen Brandt is very articulate and charming. Internet broadcasting host Shawn King is very articulate and less charming, but has a very realistic (some might say cynical) view of the Macintosh community and its relationship to Apple the corporation. He sums it up as "Don't love Apple, love the community."

  They are so much of the old days however Apple today isn´t the Apple it was back in the day it´s a company like every other out there. They want your money that´s all no matter if we talk about MS, Apple or whatever company. Just Fanboys imo.

  Why are you people obsessed about what operating system one uses? I've a few self built computers, one linux, one osx and one windows. Calling yourself a "machead" is like calling yourself a "toyotahead" or "KFChead". Just because you're a crappy person and lack a personality, doesn't mean you should label yourself based on the type of computer you use. And seriously. Get a life.

  why are all pc users below taking it all too seriously? it's not like us macheads are actually worshiping the company...we simply love it! :P I have never used anything else in my life (other than when I was forced to...university labs an similar) AND my life IS easier, better, more, fun. I have learnt more and more about my computer, the os, software and hardware available and everyhting else around the apple world just because owning a mac (or 5) makes you want to know more and get more and I cannot think of any pc users that has ever felt the same (and i know plenty of pc users) I wouldn't be a self professed geek if I hadn't owned a mac. it is as simple as that (and steve jobs is one of the most charismatic men I can think of, in his generation) so what's the problem, what's with the abuse? macheads are fun and know what's fun. stop the insults and if you really must, go and sulk in front of your pcs..

  On Violet Blue, the "sex blogger," where to begin? If you are so shallow that you are picking sex partners based on their preference of operating system, you may have deeper problems than being obsessed with a consumer product. People define themselves too much by their possessions, (by no means limited to Mac fanatics,) something symptomatic of a severe societal failure. In this respect this movie is a cautionary tale - they make no bones about being a cult e.g. the "chief evangelist," etc and are no different or less annoying than other religious proselytizers.

Great documentary. I wish you hadn't had the crazy lady though (the one in hippie clothes singing Opera for Pigs), sends the wrong message about Mac users. That lady was crazy, and shouldn't really be allowed to represent ANYTHING. :-P "Let's go find God, my Golden iPod", I mean what the hell was that? Pure crazy. Oh and shame on you for not shooting it in HD! (kidding) :D

  Hi! It's not out of date, not running in HD. Don't worry. I work even today with miniDv and it works great four me... Thanks four that crazy movie. Crazy people like me. Cut movies (even HD movies) On a nine years old Powermac G4 (2x 450Mhz, 1Gb ram, Radeon 7000pro 64Mb) Could somebody do it with a Windows machine - maybe with Linux... All best to you...

  how awesome is it that Taylor Barcroft the "mac blogger" is using two gigantic DELL monitors. i guess i he just couldn't foot the bill for some apple cinema displays! i will go ahead and say that a mac is a great computer but to get more bang for your buck a windows machine is more economically viable.

  This film makes me shiver.. I am a Mac user (and no Windows hater), but they are MacEvangelists. Religion in every form is deeply wrong in my perception. And these people make a religion out of a company. How sick is that.

  These people are really pathetic...making a religion from a system that is based on FreeBSD components and is extremely expensive...I have the same possibilities in Ubuntu, and it is free...Hardware? My girlfriends iMac hangs all the time Year after purchase. And the service wants her to pay ~100$ just for opening the cover and checking wheter someting is burnt or not...Steve is just a good bussinessman, not an ivnentor or computer-god

  I'm a Mac user and Mac fan but I can't understand how we can become so mad of an OS...; it's like a religion ; this is the American spirit maybe (I'm French), everything is excessive in US. I like Mac but I can't forget the other progress in the other OS (live Windows 7 or Linux) ; many things deserve to be known aside Mac Osx

  Para a maioria dos brasileiros, este documentário nos fará entender um pouco mais sobre a "religião" que para muitos, a Mac se tornou. Não vamos esquecer que a Mac se tornou sinónimo de real sucesso, apenas com o lançamento do Imac e logo depois do Ipod onde milhões de usuários tiveram oportunidade de experimentar algo novo e cativante. Eu me enquadro neste grupo. Fui "convertido" quando comprei meu primeiro Ipod. De tão bom que era, sempre me mantive atualizado, trocando a cada lançamento. Fiquei na fila por 5 horas para aquisição do Iphone no dia de seu lançamento em 2007 e por ser um aparelho tecnologicamente avançado e inacreditável, foi que me interessei no sistema operacional e computadores Mac. Hoje ao ver o filme, entendo o porquê de tanto entusiasmo. Depois de experimentar um Mac, não penso em voltar a um PC. Acredito que de agora para frente a Mac evoluirá ainda mais, fazendo uma nova legião de fãs, admiradores e usuários. Sou fã a 5 anos e nos meus momentos vagos, curto filmar e editar pequenos filmes com as lembranças de minhas viagens, e graças a Mac, meu hobby é muito mais prazeiroso. Não perco mais minha paciência, meus trabalhos e tempo. Tudo é mais fácil e com acabamento de primeira linha. Da gosto mostrar seu trabalho num acabamento como o proporcionado pela Mac. Àqueles que ainda não conhecem o Mac mais profundamente, busque saber um pouco mais e vc verá que a diferença é gritante.

  Today I had to work with win 7. And what have I to see? It´s the same c r a p like all versions before. Some things weren´t change since 3.11 - poor. I´m happy to got rid of this poor piece of soft. My switching day was one important day for my nerves. So winhead go defragment your harddisk or something. And don´t forget about your dll stuff. Maybe that was your last comment before bluescreen because one driver or dll that went corrupt over night. It´s so funny how winheads run mad about apple and the users. Clear your systems dudes. Clock is running again YOUR system performance.

  I figured it out now, finally. I couldn't figure out why this constant fanboys war was taking place. Seems it's NO the pc users that are keeping it going, it's simply the mac fanboys. They put their identity into their hard/software, amazing. I have both PC and Mac myself, so I can't jerk off then? How's my wife supposed to feel about me? Ow and I bootcamp my mac to win7 Jesus H !!!!

  Nice film, particularly if you're a long-time Machead, but ####! that music was about to drive me insane. Nothing like some heraldic choirs singing when His Steveness steps up to do the keynote. The people and the products speak for themselves - didn't need the constant mood-setting of the tunes to tell me what to think about what I was seeing.

  Well, this movie just show how pathetic people can be... The reason why some say that the Mac sucks, is simply because they don't like it. Its most likely a gamer that says that it sucks, and he/her has a reason: Macs can only run like 1% of games thats made. Also, Mac users tends to be more fanatic on their OS then Windows users, and I believe the simple reason for that is that Windows users doesn't give a ####. Windows 7 is 100% total awesomeness. It haven't crashes once on me, and neither did Windows Vista when I used that. Its just a god #### myth. A MYTH LIKE JESUS!

  I made it 14 minutes into this movie before my XP pc locked up; how ironic. MS rolled out a new Windows update today; another rollback Wednesday coming soon!
