From the streets to the stadiums, the youth of the Dominican Republic dream of one day emerging from the dugout onto a Big League field. From the time they can walk, kids practice with rolled up sock balls and broomsticks, waiting for the day they are old enough to sign. That day comes at the age 16 when players are given the chance to try out for professional teams. The best will sign, changing their lives forever as they try to advance through the system.

for those who don’t know, miguel angel sano is widely viewed as one of the two or three best prospects in this years crop of dominican players...while most already signed on july 2nd (the first day international free agents can sign with major league teams), miguel is still waiting for age verification, the only thing standing between him and a signing bonus that will likely be similar to that of Wagner Mateo, who just signed for 3.1 million dollars
