Dear Sammy,
I hope this comment finds you and your family doing well. Your film was very inspirational, I was so very touched while watching it. I first viewed it several days ago but felt a strong desire to go back and view it again. I am so very happy that your presence in some of the areas you visited was able to give people a feeling of hope. Your families amazing example of strength courage and survival will bring faith and comfort to many people who today find themselves in a position similar to that of your families situation 25 years ago. Your film has also put a “face” on the atrocities in the Middle East. So many of my fellow Americans (and westerners) will find comfort in knowing the positive impact toppling Saddam Hussein and his regime has had on the Kurdish people. I know this is such an understated sentence, but it was extremely heartwarming to see how happy the Kurdish people were to see Saddam Husseins brutal regime taken out. I am so sorry about the unbalanced scale of justice that was handed down with Saddam Husseins sentence, he should have had been held publicly accountable for his role in the displacing, torturing and massacring of so many innocent Kurdish people. Try to find comfort in the fact that he is not in Heaven, but will burn in hell for eternity. Thank you so very much for this poignant look at what strength and courage look like. Since your video was released (at least on this site) in 2008, I was wondering if your emotional journey has had an impact on your everyday life, and if so, how. I would imagine that many people would like to see an update from you but just haven’t asked.
May God Bless you and your family.
