  Angela I found your book by accident at book store called Bookman's here in Mesa, AZ. I picked it up and read the front of the cover and flipped through it and said to myself...."I have to read this. This is for me." I have known and remembered since I was a little girl what has happened to me and who did what they did to me. I have lived through a lot and could probably write my own book but would never know where to start, and like you, how to put it all together. I want you to know that I loved reading your book and then I went to the internet and looked it up and found the film and watched it. My heart is torn with the "re-remembering" but it also feels wonderful that you have made this movie for us all. I would love to educate people about the abuse issues that we still continue to face every single day in the world and every chance that I get when someone wants to talk about abuse and then they say to me have you ever lived through something like that and I say, "Yes, I did and I still do." It is something that you never forget but just have to learn to live with memories. I have lots of great day and I have some bad days but I am strong. I have had and still have a hard life but I thank my god(dess) that I am here, I am in one piece and I am loved. So thank you Angela for writing the book, thank you for making the film and thank you for sharing your story. With love, Eileen Kessler

  Angela, I heard that you were writing the screenplay and then making an upcoming movie about BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) and I had to watch your movie. I have devoted my life to volunteer work and recently BACA and thought myself fortunate that I myself have never experienced all of that myself. However, as I think more and more about it, way too many women in my life have. From subtle comments from past girlfriends to actaully experiencing the mother of one girlfriend tear her room to shreads right in front of me because she forgot to wash a single washcloth with the rest of the towels, it happens way more often than most of us realize. I commend you for bringing these issues to light and sharing yours with us. I just hope that your movies, old and new, continue to bring light to abuse and help us break the chain of abuse by empowering those that have experienced it.

  Angela, I just purchased your book 2 days ago in the dollar store! Can you believe it?! I just finished reading it today and I was so excited to purchase the documentary then I discovered I can now watch it for free online! I am so excited that I literally can't stand it! I have to go to work in 30 minutes but I feel like calling in just so I can stay home to watch! You have no idea what impact you have already had on my life in just 2 days! When I finished the book I immediately went on the www.findingangelashelton.com web site and saw so many links. Somehow I ended up on You Tube and saw the movie trailer. As I watched each character I had just read in the book speak before my very eyes, it was like I could just reach out and touch each one of them personally by name! The connection was out of this world! I don't even know where to begin! I am a survivor of incest, rape, and domestic violence. I have forgiven the perpetrators and I'm getting better and better everyday with knowing and understanding and liking who I am. Like you I am determined to help as many women including myself to know that they are not alone and they do not have to live with insecurity, fear, guilt and shame for the rest of their lives. You are a true angel and I am so glad to be a part of this movement! I can't wait to share!

  Angela, WOW.....that was absolutely powerful, moving and inspiring! You have done a fabulous job on this. Kudos to you for confronting the perp! All I want to say to you is, "You need to forgive him in order to move on. By no means, does forgiving him, mean in any way that what he did was right! It just means that YOU will no longer let him be in control of your daily thought process, nor will you carry his baggage around for one more second!!! God Bless You!!   Dearest angela, You are a true inspiration to all us women.I just watched your video and It really truely touched my heart.I too was molested as a child and raped as a teen and to watch something like this truely gave me some hope.Your story is unlike anything i've ever heard but you are so couragious for confronting ur father like that and It makes me wanna go confornt my step brother but I feel like I'm too weak to do it.No woman or man should ever have to go through something like this.I think what your doing Is wonderful and I hope you stay strong and keep up this wonderful work cuz you really give hope to alot of us woman who don't feel strong enough to take a stand like you did,but none the less It gives us hope and confort knowing were not alone on this horriable ordeal.Like the anonymous angela said u are truely a godsend!!God bless you and may god always be with u!! love, miranda b. from cali.

  Before I get starter I want to say this is a noble and splendid documentary you have compiled, thank you! How I stumbled onto this article is beyond me, but not a mistake. After much thought on this subject being a former victim of rape and incest, I have come to the conclusion this world is made up of severely lost and confused people, that have been suppressing tragic lives for centuries. So I can clearly see that basically our human development as a child is crucial. Why can't anyone else. But what are you purposing as a solution? Take this Country and it's Government....it is not about the child or it's development.....or our teachers would be paid more then a trash collector. It is not about our safety and protection or the police would be paid more then our road construction workers. This Country really was a safe place to live in but that was in a time when people had more respect and morals. Unfortunately God has been taken out of our schools and our politics and we will never be the same. There was a time when pornography was not something we could flip on at a moments notice and put our vulnerable little children in harms way. Since this country has turned it's back on God, He will not force himself on anyone. Remember free will? He has politely turn His back on us or at least the ones that don't find Him reliant. So really what is your solution to this worldwide epidemic that sickens the minds of our children, that in turn sicken the minds of their children. Tell me please?... it's an evil, horrible and vile epidemic that needs to be addressed. How can I help you?

  Thank you so much for such a powerful, moving, and painfully true film. I wept for much of the time I was watching it. I felt as if I was watching the story of MY life. My entire life has been affected by the sexual abuse I suffered as a child. I have suffered, self medicated, substance abused, and now I can say I have survived. I will not say I have recovered, because I don't think any person can fully recover from abuse. The film should be featured again so that people can see what a widespread problem abuse is, and how deeply the victims are affected. Again, thank you. My heart has healed a little more.

  You are amazing and so couragious. I was abused at the hand of my father, physically, emotionally and sexually. It has take years to travel the path of healing. Your film is very important for the world. You have created something to be very proud of and I wish you all the best on your healing journey.   Angela Shelton(s), thanks for the healing! Wrote the song, "Break the Silence - Stop the Violence" and now understand better why it never was popular since SO many live in denial. This painfully hit home and helped me realize I am not alone, nor am I crazy. Every day I get stronger, became a teacher to make a difference with children hoping they won't grow up to be your dad or stepmom or my mom or dad. She was a teacher, too believe it or not! The lying is the worst part. Married twice and feel my sharing that dark past only opened the door for more abuse in both cases as they KNEW beyond a shadow of a doubt I was truly out there on my own and no matter how bad things got going home to them would not be an option. One day I fled with my small children from the Caribbean to Hawaii. I hid in the rainforest and wrote songs. I made friends with the birds and even though I lived on the edge of an active volcano with lava all around my yard on three acres of land at the end of a dirt road 3 miles off the main road, I felt SAFE! What you have done here is explain HOW they get away with it and as a teacher have had to fight the system so much I want to do what you did after seeing your dad to everyone in charge!!!! CHILD PROTECTION should be #1 in our society instead it's the LAST thing we focus on. Instead of heads of state meeting with heads of state, they need to prosecute those who endanger children and those who perpetrate, robbing and stealing their childhoods and they should PAY so more people could see films like yours or hear songs like mine or the outstanding ones you chose for this film. You are a genius! I changed my name from Nancy Fish to Anna Fisher. I hated Nancy Fish so much for allowing so many bad things to happen and being too afraid to kept telling more people as it warranted blackened eyes and bruises from both parents. On Facebook, I made friends with many Nancy Fish's which some thought peculiar but after seeing your movie just now I realize it was no accident! Helping others is empowering and draining in the same breath but it MUST be done. I have become very close to my sister who will talk about what happened. She was not only molested by my dad but also my uncle. We scrubbed toilet, cooked and washed clothes for about .25 per hour. Guess we were lucky to be paid as some never are but today I watch my mother spend what she robbed us of, no longer a survivor I thrive like YOU, happiness is a choice. Hugs!

How many of the women said that their meeting you was meant to be and that you changed their lives, and really all you did was choose to take this journey and then showed up and talked to them.   Angela, what a powerful and moving film. What a courageous journey you made with your support team. You traveled many miles collecting stories from women who were brave enough to share their lives with you. This gift from them gave you the strength to complete your journey back to your father. I hope you know that making that step was your first step to being the whole person you are. How wonderful for you to reconnect with your brother and find peace with one another again. I loved the comments made by many of the women about finding their own inner strength and not letting someone else define them...we need ALL women and girls to hear that message! To the Angela Shelton that had the guts and ability to put this documantary together, I ask that you make a follow up. Please, follow up with these women that put their most horrible demons out into the public eye. How are they now? Have they received the help and support they need? Or have they been further abused by the public, their piers? Workmates? Spouces and aquaintances? I ask to join you, the film maker, Angela Shelton, on a journey to visit all of these women and see if they are well. If they have benefited from their brave international admission of the horrific nature of their lives. I would want to be there with you. I want to give my support.   Thank you Angelas! I have survived 18 years of being poisoned, drugged, and molested. This was done by my own mother,sister and thier men friends who they gave me away to. Because I was drugged most of the time I have suppressed alot and therefor survivied. Not many people believe that your own mother would moleste you. When I confided with an old friend about this she refused to believe me and has not spoken to me again. Thank you to all the Angelas who put a face with the true stories of our lives.

  This movie completely captivated me. I loved every second! I cried every minute. I wish that everyone in America would watch this documentary. It completely spoked to me. My sister was molested at the age of eight by a cousin and she did not tell anyone until twenty years later. All the Angela Sheltons touched my spirit and made me want to be a stronger person, mother, sister, wife, friend, but for the most part...a stronger WOMAN. Thank you, for being who you are. Oh, and Angela just keep in your heart that, what goes around, comes around. Your father may deny what he did to you and your siblings, but inside he knows what he did, and he will get what is coming to him, ten fold. Trust me on that! I just have to say, you are amazing! Thank you for going on this quest of self discovery and sharing it with us. God Bless!

  That was amazing! I really commend you for televising your journey. It is apparent that it wasn't easy but it just shows your immense courage. I can relate a lot to many of the Angela Shelton's. I too was sexually abused (by a babysitter) and grew up in an abusive home. In addition, my father abandoned us when I was about 5 yrs old and I had a horrible relationship with my stepfather. However, I'm glad that I can say today that I hold no hate or resentment in my heart for any of them and it has made all the difference. I never got to confront my molester but after watching your documentary, I've gained much more insight into my own situation. I realized that my feelings were valid and also that a confrontation does not guarantee peace; you need to make peace with yourself first and foremost. What a great film, really. It really makes a difference to know you are not alone and there are people that feel EXACTLY the same way you do. Thanks to all the Angela Shelton's :)

  This was great I have never watched a film that move me so much. I was molested as a child and my husband molested my daughter's ( he went to prison for 10 years) I never conforted my father but I wished I could he is dead and I never shed a tear when he died . But I have shed tears for my half sister because I did not tell anyone and he did the same things to her. I was so mad at your father for not admitting what he did, I wished for you he had of but you are very strong and really made a difference in my life .   it is more than disturbing that over half these women have been molested as a man and a father i am sickened. I watch this and I wonder just what is wrong with us as a people that we can do these things do the most vunerable people in our lives our children. I guess this story started as when thing and ended as something else. Anyone who takes atvantage of child should be put under the jail i am deeply saddened by these stories

  ♥ Angela ♥ Just finished watching....thank you for this amazingly beautiful/heartbreaking/inspiring/brave/maddening/uplifting film....so very emotional. I am soooo soooo sooo sorry that your "father" put you though all of that and then...to deny it..sickening. You handled yourself with grace and strength i'm not sure i would have had....I am not a survivor of physical/sexual abuse, but a survivor of other things...we all have these things in our past that help to shape who we are, things we need to work through and heal...they never go away, but by dealing with them, sharing them, putting them out there for others to see and experience with us heals us all...Those common threads...those lessons ~that we must love ourselves and each other and stand together, (especially as women) and as beings of love and light for each other and for ourselves...just fantastic and phenomenal...   Thank you so much for doing this project. I watched it for first time on snagfilms. I had no idea that it was going to be about this subject, I just love documentaries. I was/am a victim...I am a survivor of sexual abuse as a child and rape as an adult. I am in therapy right now because I thought that I could just get over it and realized I couldn't. Your film put a voice to so much that I have thought about. All the fear involved, the confusion, and most of all the lies, are things that victims must face. I am trying to face my own fears and can not thank you enough for being so brave for all of us. I have to admit I was disturbed that you let your dad put his hands on you again. I did want you to some how let him know that there was no way you believed that he wasn't guilty. I was glad to see that all the Angela's seem to have a strong belief in God. These traumas have affected my relationship with God as I understood it. I am making my way back to understanding. I need some supernatural strength to get through this. Thanks for being real.   Angela, this was such a powerful gift you were compelled to give to woman and also the parents who have been victims(I am not speaking of your father, here, but of fathers whose children have been abuse by someone else). My dad "felt me out", once. I ran away yelling that he was sinning. He finally apologized when I was in my 40's. He was in tears, and meant it. He was a changed man. He and my mom had been divorced for many years. My mom was a pedofile. She had been abused when she was a child...by her uncle. But what makes a woman who actually bore a child want to abuse that child? She said that it was because she was helping him to understand women...presumable sexual education, similar to the excuse your father gave. She could never admit her guilt, which consequently tore the family apart to this day. I have never allowed her to be with my children. My sister remembers nothing, but my brother and I remember plenty. He has had problems with homosexuality, and his wife was eventually told by my mother that she and my brother had had sexual relations for about 6 years. My brother's wife could not handle this. My mom just wanted to destroy their lovely family. I truly believe that if you believe in God, who has allowed you such understanding, and has allowed others into your life to let you heal, you have to realize that there is also a personal devil. A being...a fallen being, who has used this common denominator repeatedly, generation after generation, to demoralize and make people feel lower than a dog, as one of your Angela's put it. He is out there to destroy every one, not just every Angela. It is only hate that allows a being to do this, and when we turn out lives over to hate and succumb to the devil's temptations to either abuse, or allow ourselves to be abused, or to hate ourselves, the devil rejoices. What you have done is to be a voice for the mercy which God wants to provide for every person who has ever been attacked by the devil and his devices. You have touched me with the use of the courage you have allowed our loving God to give you. You will be made to feel incredibly low by this devil from time to time...maybe every day, but remember that our God is much more powerful that the miserable devil, and he wants nothing more than for you to have peace regardless of the situation you find yourself in. What more could happen to an innocent child? How beautiful that we are still innocent in His sight!!

  Ive heard similar stories from women that I have know over the years and I am sure it occurs more than anyone really knows.I know that the principal of our elementary school went to prison for molestation years after I was out of high school. I am sure he was molesting for many years and the teachers should have known it.But that was a different era too.I vowed then and forever to protect children if I could and to never harm my own.I pray for the children...........John

  Wow, there is actually a movie being made on my life. I have had the honor of sharing my story around various places, and to know that people can be touched by the story of abuse. I have learned many of the same aspects of abuse are there for men and women. The pain is horrible. www.thevirtualpew.com or a simple google of my name, Mike Furches, will tell my story in part. I now pastor a very different kind of church, although I was the director of mental health rehab programs for a number of years. We are starting up an Abuse Recovery Center in October of 2009 and the services are on a as you can afford basis. We want to make sure that people can get help despite their ability to pay. We want to offer help and recovery as much as possible to people who have gone through physical and sexual abuse. Thanks so much for making this video available. I will use it and am glad to recommend it. I also do movie reviews for Hollywood Jesus and would love to have a DVD of this to review for that website.   Angela, Words alone can not express the emotion i have inside. I was molested as a young child by my father. The same thing happened to him, he was to report to therapy, and i was not allowed to testify against him, the state said i am not menatally stable enough at the age of 11 to do it. it makes me feeel great that i am not alone. thank you

  I show this movie to my psychology students as a way to introduce them to child abuse and the lifelong effects thereof. I have yet to have a class walk out with dry eyes, including the men. The statistics given about child abuse and victimization amazes them. The true journey of Angela Shelton as demonstrated by her outburst after her father refuses to admit any wrongdoing wrenches your soul and forces the viewer to accept that these things do happen and continue to happen. I will say that in showing this video I had one young lady who bravely watched and then told me her personal story right before she went to the police to have her stepfather arrested for molesting her for more than 5 years. So Angela keep doing what you are doing because you are bringing truth to light and reducing the percentages of violators who skirt the law every minute of every day. And for everyone else...show this to any woman, man and child you know and care anything about if you truly want to stop this heinous act against women and children.

  Thank you for being Angela Shelton ... I met so many of you. I guess it truly answers the question of what's in a name. So many brave and powerful women. My name is not Angela Shelton but it could be. My story is much simpler, it happened because I was insecure, vulnerable and looking for love in all the wrong places. It was over 40 years ago and I just tucked it away like it never happened. Guilt. My fault. Allowed the situation to go too far. No did not work. I became a notch in his belt. I was not a person to him. I never cried. Guilt. My fault. I lied about when I lost my virginity. You go on. Angela, I applaud you for baring your naked heart and soul. I hope that you are happy in the place that you're in. You are special. You walk with the angels. Thank you for allowing us to share your journey with you. Yup, I've got to say it, "YOU ROCK"!!

  This has got to be one of the most honest, and empowering epic documentation of self discovery I've ever encountered. I want to thank all Angela Sheltons, and everyone brave enough to dream of a better life and world and strive to make one, not solely for themselves but for humanity as a whole. I am a man, but most every girl I've ever dated, had as a best friend, family members and those i may never know, so many of them have been victimized. So because of that I've grown a very deep understanding. This movie is for the survivors of the atrocities of human kind, and those brave enough to care to see the beauty in continuing living. Thank you Angela Shelton(s), I've been truly inspired to do some soul searching of my own.

  angela god bless you and i hope you grow from this i have a cousin named angela shelton and you misher and she also has experienced these things and in the last 2 years tried to kill herself 3 times i think she is getting better but im going to have her watch this and maybe she will get strong through you thank you for your courage and strength

  Angela, Wow! That punch you didn't throw at your dad went straight into this film instead. The film drew me in with your casual and honest style, and then wouldn't let me go. Hope you are continuing to heal and you are happy.

  Dear Angela, This movie touched me very deeply. I am also a victim of childhood sexual abuse; that which I am only dealing with now. You are a beautiful woman and a true inspiration for all woman.   Thank you so much for this documentary. I have told serveral of my friends about it and posted it to my Facebook page. I work at Mental Health Law & Policy center and I have so many friends who have had simular situations in their lives. I have always wondered how to help with their pain, apart from giving them information or listening to them. Thanks for giving me something that can do more, that can say and help them through all that there hearts and souls hold. THANK YOU!!!!!
