  A soulful film about a soulful singer who met a tragic fate. It would have been easy to exploit the murder but this film avoids that by focusing on the sweetness of the friendships, and the fiery joy of the music. Almost everybody I've watched it with cries and yet your left happy knowing about a great person like Mia Zapata.

  Very well made doc. Superb storytelling without being exploitive of such a difficult subject. Definite must see for any documentary lover and especially so given that a stunning Mia Zapata captures your heart.

  This is a truly inspirational film and heartbreaking. A friend told me that I should see this film because I love a great story, I love forensic science, and I love passionate punk rock. This film has it all and more.....it has the most incredible front woman, MIA ZAPATA!!!!!!!!!! Really moving story with an insatiable drive. THE GITS!!!!!!!!!

  This film touched me so deeply. I really enjoyed it and will share it with many. I was sleeping when a Cold Case cable show featured Mia's case and it reached me thru my slumber. I googled Mia Zapata and came upon this. I was so happy that the film showed the great love & respect that she had from all of those in her community. I'm gonna blog about this one for sure.   bren that is so offensive. perhaps the point was it can happen to anyone including someone so great. or have you ever thought that just another girl could mean so much to her community, because she can. all girls contribute to those around them. not being a gits fan is cool, but dont use a rape and murder to prove the point. im sure anyone who has lost someone this tragically would love to make a movie about their impact. they were lucky enough to have an outlet and public fascination in order to do so.

  This was an absolute gem of a film. I had heard about Mia Zapata and The Gits but never knew the whole story. This film does true justice to their story. Powerful and moving...A+

  I guess the band name "Full of Themselves" was already taken, too bad they had to settle for "The Gits" Time hasn't been kind to to grunge genre, the personality type of the scene was so self-involved. Too bad that same self-involvement and egoism kept people from just realizing that, to a rapist, the singer could be just another girl walking down the street. The whole world didn't revolve around the Seattle music scene.

  Not to sound cliche, but this is a powerful and moving documentary. Well worth seeing even if the style of music is not your cup o' tea. Great film, great band.

  Great film. Wonderful insight into the Seattle music scene of the early 90's. Anyone who loves music, this is a must see.
