  To the guy wondering what was playing in the background at 6:37; we filmed the Wilbur Mills interview at Eric Wasowicz's house. Eric's young children were in another room playing and making noises.

  Tugs during my time (though I was not a Tugger) gave us the ability to look beyond ourselves. As a house of twelve members going up against houses with fifty to one hundred members we were propelled from the shadows to the lime light. I do not remember any division in the house between tuggers an nontuggers simply because they would have squashed us!

  This film surprised me. Even though the quality of my print wasn't great, the subject matter, and the interest created in it by the way the story is told, caught me completely off guard. I mean - tug of war? Really? But, yes, it works! The guys on these teams have assigned a totally bizarre level of importance in their lives to the outcome of these matches. However, Lahey (the director) is very even-handed in his presentation which adds to the confounding feeling you get while watching this film: I can't believe these guys take this so seriously -- yet, I totally get it. Lahey's future as a documentarian is very clear here. It led me to his other film, "Making Waves", which was even better. I look forward to his next one to see if he continues to develop his skills!
