John and Anthony, obviously you must’ve come home to a nice coushy home, these guys came home to nothing! Why would vets compare they’re situtions to someelses? You don’t know what he saw, you don’t know how it affected him. Just be grateful its not you and that you’re alive today!

What kind of a country are we? What kind of a nation are we? To allow this to happen? People often forget that Bush was trying to cut funding for soldiers while they were fighting in the war and he cut funding so when they returned there wasn’t anything for them. How can we build up our nation while tearing it down? Even in Iraq if a suicide bomber blows himself up, his family is taken care of for life, here our soldiers are left to fend for themselves, its disgusting! God helps us!!!

Ok @Anthony and John. I am truly surprised by what you both said. He may not have been a grunt fighting in the trenches. But he is just like you both a veteran. His job was to make sure you were supplied with the fuel needed to carry out the mission. Which means he saw the horrors of battle just as you did. Because he is 100% he can’t re enlist. So I am at a loss because he is your comrade. Part of the reason there are so many vets and yes active duty struggling is due to that attitude “Suck it up and drive on” but that does nothing to address the trauma and issues that are driving our returning warriors to suicide and incarceration. We as vets must look to each other for peer support because the world only cares that we go and fight but not how and what we return too.

I was very touched by the documentary. All of the veterens deserve better.  As for the soldiers who have no sympathy, what if your situation was not so prosperous.  Everyone has different situation, The documentary makes me angry, when those who have an abundance of wealth cannot step up and help those who have served their country to keep them free from harm.  After seeing the documentary I have already started spreading the word about this dilema.  I will start writing letters to the government to help assist our veterens.  Not one veteren should be homeless when they return to civilian life.
