  Well that's got to be the kindest clan I've ever seen. The summary implies it's a story from young Naoki's perspective but it's told more from the Yakuza's eyes, which even so should have shown more of a balance between the everyday goings on of the these junior recruits. To tell a story you just can't show mostly good, there are so many other violent aspects to their lifestyle. If you go to Japan everybody knows not to #### with the Yakuza, I felt that was missing from this. People who have documented the negative side of their lives have known to "disappear" in the past, considering it took some collaboration between the clan mentioned in the credits and the creator/producers I think there was expectation to portray Yakuza as mere Robin hoods. Other than that the "acting" was superb,it was as if there wasn't even a camera in the room. In spite the one sidedness it still gave a glimpse into a world rarely seen or understood by outsiders.

  subtitles are always annoying when they can't be turned off (there is no technical barrier to creating an alternate caption stream, instead of forcing subtitles on people) ... but the translations for this movie were genuinely fitting

  beautiful film and story it shows the contrast in values between the new and old japan in the eye of the young yakuza in how to become a yakuza through their traditions. it is definitely worth watching if you are curious about contemporary japanese culture and what a yakuza actually means (beyond pop culture references)

  wow this was an amazing view into the underground or what i'd like to think not what they always show on tv about Japan. Superbly shot, great dialogue and the editing was just WOW loves it!
